If you're still a little in the dark about Sony's upcoming Digital TV service for the PS3, then we're happy to shed some light on the subject with a short video ad on how this service works.

While we've already covered the details on how PlayTV essentially works, the best way to show you how it works is by seeing the service itself in action. The video gives a short tutorial how you can setup PlayTV on your console and its various features, which can allow you to enjoy the boob tube on your PS3.

Asides from the advertised recording and playback features of the service, you can even remotely access PlayTV through your PlayStation Portable handheld via Wi-Fi.

PlayTV is officially set to be released this Spring and will be available in UK, France, Italy, Germany, and Spain. Plans have already been drawn up to allow the service to be compatible with other PAL territories that support Digital Video Broadcasting.

In any case, here's the low-down video of the PlayTV service from Sony. Enjoy!

 » ps3 what can't it do

I have both consoles from launch. Had xbox replaced three times. Ps3 is way better No ring of death, psp linkup, psp remote play, Divx, wmv, mpg all play great and live tv what could be better? Well how about being able to watch what you want on tv and let kids watch another channel on psp or even watch the recorded videos. what could be better than that? oh yes Home. So what could be better than that? Oh yes Blueray and better games and better graphics and folding and linux and playing ps3 games on psp. Plus a power pc to. Best of all we can do most of that right now. Windows media centre for 360 sucks big time and uses pc resources to use it plus you need a tv tuner in your pc and vista or windos xp media centre edition.
I am not a fan boy I just know through comon sence whit is best for me. I hate xbox with its faults though. My xbox has just gatherd dust over the past year and I would probably get the ring of death if I do try using it.

millions of americans would rather pay the online service coz its fun to play with friends, hundreds of dollars for spare xbox 360 consoles coz waiting for repair is long (which shouldnt happen in the first place if the product is not crap).

yes the ps3 is destined to be the single console for every living room, you know that, i know that too. but we can change the minds of these blind people that are willing to waste their money on a console that is poorly designed and is designed to cheat people out of their money. anyways im happy for them because they find happiness in spending money on xbox 360 even if it screws them over and over again.

i'll also buy a 360 sometime and hope that the cancer is taken out of it, if its not then i may do some modding to cool the internal chips because microsoft refuses to do so. if not for great third party games i wouldnt even think of buying this piece of crap, hey microsoft you can thank capcom for my 360 purchase later.

Man, this is so cool...
I always wanted to have that, and now it's finally coming to us...
That's what I call All-in-One unit.

Defininitely one BIG point for the PS3.

I'm a little bit afraid of the price, though

Well get ps3 premium console it still works out cheaper than 360. 360 you need to buy a haddrive, wireless dongle, hddvd drive, pc with media centre and the xbox itself work out the cost of that lot and it still won't do as much.

I'm hoping for a release in America...

» I will love this idea but...

Isn't just for europe?...

If this will work in US like a TIVO I will buy it really, not just air signal. Another thing that I'm worry about is... if you program that thing to record to X time and at that time you are playing, the ps3 will still record the TV show?

I have sent you 3-5 tips (including this one) now that this site has posted and I haven't been given any acknowledgment on these tips. I don't really care for the thanks or anything like that because its not like I get anything for the tip, but you guys can at least mention my name in the article. This is the final tip that I am sendimg in. I don't expected to get any acknowledgment on this situation but you guys won't have to worry about a tip from me. I give my regards to the site and fellow tippers.

Thank You but I wont be coming again.

 » U.S. Realease?

I'm really hoping this comes out it the US. I'd gladly pay $150-$200 for such a device. Last I heard, Sony's intention was to release this worldwide. I really hope that happens.

 » As for the US.

This will not work in the us becasue we don't have a DTV standard YET!

in 2009 we WILL have a DTV standard.

so i am guessing 2009 for the US..
