Homebrew dev Zx-81 releases Portable VNC v1.2.8 for PSP - Image 1It's been a while since we've seen any activity from Zx-81's Portable VNC homebrew app for the PlayStation Portable. However, the developer recently dropped by our PSP Development forum and informed us that Portable VNC v1.2.8 was already up and available for download.

The new release of Portable VNC, now features full compatibility with the IR keyboard and has been tested on the latest custom firmware versions (CFW 3.80 and 3.90). Please note that the current build has only been tested on the PSP Fat and not the Slim & Lite.

Anyway, here's the short list of changes since our previous coverage of the application:
  • Fix issue with IR keyboard on CFW >= 3.80
  • Add a readme file
The readme file includes all the pertinent information regarding the background of Portable VNC and how to install it on the PSP. Please make sure to go through it before copying any of the files on your handheld.

If you wish to discuss Portable VNC v1.2.8, you can visit the source link or search for the relevant thread on the QJ.NET PSP Development forum.

Great app, but I was hoping it would fix the fact that after about 45 seconds of use, the becomes laggier and laggier. It takes about 4 seconds after you move your analog for the mouse to move. I realize that 4 seconds isn't a long time, but think about each time you wanna move your mouse any direction. But I really do think this is a great app.

Also, Major, there is a whole tutorial on ZX's site (Forums), including pictures and everything on how to set this up, like you I at first found it difficult, but it works out perfectly now.

hi,

It seems to lag only with tightVNC for windows, you may try to use UltraVNC instead ...

Yes you're right, i meant another vnc server such as realvnc.
pspvnc works fine under linux, and since i'm not addicted to any microsoft products, i'm not very helpful ;)
