The end of the month is coming up, and while you guys will be out there
running around trick-or-treating, we thought we'd tickle your gaming
sweet tooth by giving you a compilation list of the games coming out
for the next few days. Once again, save
yourself the trouble of sweating out a long walk to you local retail store, and enjoy our Halloween treat for 'ya. And while there's a lot of games to look forward to, we'll have to honestly say that our top picks would have to be The Sims 2: Pets (Sickeningly cute animals, go figure), and FEAR (This one just for this holiday's sake). IGN recently talked with Power Stone Collection Producer, Kazuhiro Tsuchiya. Good news is, the PSP game wasn't altered that much to retain that good old Power Stone feel that fans have been used to. Oh yeah, the difficulty was altered a bit to make it more manageable, but that's it. Tsuchiya said that they "didn't go overboard to avoid changing the game, but had to balance it a little bit to make it feel more like a Collection than two completely different games." Cool, eh? It seems that these guys are paying a lot of attention to customer feedback, and for that we give them two thumbs up. He adds that the the PSP's button layout is well-suited for the game, and they were "happy with the result". Hopefully, many fans will appreciate all their hard work, and will clamor for more Capcom Dreamcast games ported to the PSP. In the end, user demand will determine whether they shall continue making doing PSP versions of previous Capcom games, so better let them know that you like to keep 'em coming, alright? On a final note, here's what he has to say for curious "onlookers" who want to try out the game for the first time: The collection itself is fun and the illustration/graphic style of the Power Stone universe together with its unique characters enhances the atmosphere. We did our best to recreate the experience that so many fans appreciated back when it first came out and I think fans new to the series will appreciate as well. Pre-order: [Power Stone Collection] |

Gamespot had a chance to play some nearly finished copies of the Power Stone
Collection which, for those who don't know, includes the enhanced
version of Power Stone and Power Stone 2, which was originally released
for the Dreamcast, as well as unlockable bonus content. And from what
they've seen and experienced, it looks like the games are every bit as
good, if not better than, their 1999 and 2000 counterparts. So enough
with this intro, let's get down to the games' aspects:Environments (both games): Objects can be thrown or slid toward enemies, but there are also immovable interactive objects; poles to can swing from, hazards to force your opponents into, and--in the second game--gun turrets that you can climb into. Treasure chests contain food items or weapons which include the titular power stones that transform your character into a superhuman fighter. Power Stone Gameplay, Controls, and Characters: Mainly one-on-one fights, and at the outset, there'll be eight characters to choose from: Falcon, Ayame, Wang-Tang, Gunrock, Jack, Galuda, Rouge, and Ryoma. All characters have the same controls (but with different speeds and styles): jump, grab, kick, and punch on the face buttons, power fusion moves on the shoulders. There are unlockable additional characters by playing through the story mode. Weapons include ray guns, soccer balls, machine guns, and power shields. Unique features for the PSP that weren't in the originals include health meters and a small radar that points to power stones off-screen. Power Stone Gameplay Modes: Story mode, CPU mode where you can fight against any opponent in your chosen environment, a training mode, and an ad hoc network mode for head-to-head fights against your friends. Customization options available ahead of each battle include time limits, number of rounds, damage levels, and screen formats, and you can also turn the new radar on or off. Also, there are no fewer than eight difficulty settings. The full article awaits after the jump! |

With the Tokyo Game Show getting closer and closer, another title has been confirmed to make an appearance as a playable game at the said event, and right now, we're just happy to hear that Devil May Cry 4 (DMC4) will be gracing gamers with its presence. Capcom has just announced that there will be several playable units for DMC4 at the show floor when the Playstation 3 makes its public debut in the country. The event, which will run from September 22 to 24 is expected to draw large numbers of gamers and game news reporters, so Capcom decided to put on their best face, which just so happened to be Dante's and his equally-good-looking alter ego, Nero's. In any case, other titles at the show that can be added on top of Sony's PS3 list, are the following:

Most people's experience with Power Stone was either with Sega, Dreamcast, or in arcades. Either way, the more players, the better the fun. It also had a television show with Fokker as the main character. The '90s was very good to this franchise. Just like Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins, this classic game will also be reincarnated in the PSP. Both Power Stone sequels and characters will be included in the one UMD. Multiplayer will be available via- ad hoc wireless. Gameplay? Why change something that's already excellent? Four players run around the setting, get chairs, megaphones, etc. and throw them into the opponent. Players also need to collect Power Stones to up their abilities. Collect three Power Stones and the character becomes a more powerful version of themselves. Game will be released October this year. For now, here are some screenshots and videos we've prepared just for you. In-game screenshots: More of the screenshots, including game trailer and boxart, awaits after the jump! |

I remember playing Power Stone on my Dreamcast back in the day. It was such a great fighting game and it offered something new to think about, what with its world objects and the three collectible stones for the super powers. Capcom is re-releasing the Power Stone games from the DC to the PSP and Gamespot was there to give this title's demo a spin. This new title offers more content than the original titles yet stays true to form. Power Stone Collection is faithful to the previous titles, which should make the fans very happy. Gamespot's preview was of course limited but still gives us a tantalizing glimpse of what's to come. Here's a snippet from the preview: The presentation is coming together well from what we've seen. The game's sharp look is right at home on the PSP. However, at the moment, there are some texture and resolution issues that keep the game from looking like a perfect conversion. Still, minor elements aside, the game's performance is pretty smooth even now, which bodes well for the future. At the same time, the game's audio appears to be nailing the voice and sound effects from the Dreamcast version, which isn't too surprising. |
