Promotional image released for Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 - Image 1Who would've thought that Michael Owen would still look his best on the handheld versions of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PC, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, DS).

Fans who are expecting to see him and their other favorite club players won't have much longer to wait as the premiere soccer sim from Konami is set to kick off early next year for the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS handhelds.

It was recently announced that the PlayStation Portable version of PES 2008 will include a lot of the features of the PS2 version which was released in Europe last October.

One of the notable new features in the PSP version is the ability to swap information from the PS2's Master League, World Tour, and Cup Mode to the PSP.

The Nintendo DS version of PES 2008 includes Exhibition, Penalty Shoot-Out, and Konami Cup game modes. Not to be outdone by the PSP, the DS version will make use of the wireless capabilities of the handheld to facilitate multi-player matches of up to four participants with a single copy of the game shared among the players.

Considering the fame and adoration that fans across Europe have for the game, it's no surprise that the game has enjoyed the accolades of football fanatic gamers in other parts of the globe.
