There are many available PSP homebrew applications out there that are Windows compatible. I don't know if it's just me, but I rarely come across Mac compatible ones. So if there are Apple users out here, this one's for you.

Developer Dago watt recently came up with with a nifty release called Prometeus 0.9.4. The application, accordingly, is a Mac OS X tool that allows for manipulating ISO images. But more importantly, this homebrew converts PSX games and make them compatible instantly with 3.02 OE format.

It looks like the homebrew community is fond of PSX games lately. Just a while ago, we reported on another homebrew application, albeit Windows compatible, that allows for changing icons and pictures of different PSX titles. Oh well, as we always say, whatever floats your boat. The download link can be found after the changelog. And oh, don't forget to browse through the readme file first.
  • Create folder with Game Name, automatically copy there KEYS.BIN and EBOOT.PBP. (Warning ! If you use same folder to generate games, use different Game Name because the app overwrite the old one.
  • Allow different PNG sizes (but not allow bigger than max size) except BACKGROUND.PNG (it has fix size).
  • Scan, Show and Use original Game ID to build your PBP file. You can add Game ID number manually too. ( Now, you can build PSX Multi Disks with the same Game ID number. )
  • When you change Game ID Number or Game Name you don’t have got to press Enter. (Just Press Start button)
Download: [Prometeus v0.9.4]

Does this one work only on MacOS 10.4? My app doesn't get started. I've got 10.3.9.

 » Found the Problem

I found the problem: Prometeus is trying to find libusb-0.1.4.dyld

The only problem is, I'm not sure LibUSB is up to version 0.1.4, and finding data for an OS X version isn't easy, so we may be forced to compile it.

why cant people just use WINE ?

   Re: seven (Unregistered) - 2007-01-01
 » ...

Because WINE is for linux, dumbass

   Re: phinux (Unregistered) - 2007-01-01
 » ?

because wine is *****. having a separate program for linux would be better.....and wouldn't it be even better if we could use something else besides the hot shots 2 game that doesn't require activating through your psp? if this were the case, people who only want to play psx and psp games could then update to the newest version and wouldn't need any kind of homebrew firmware.

 » IMG Files

Does anyone know how to convert .img to an .iso file on OS X? The program is quite good, but it seems that it's not working with .img files... I found "ccd2iso", but I don't understand how to install this prog on OS X... :(

Can someone help?

   Re: mac (Unregistered) - 2007-01-01
 » hey

did you download a iso wot a .img extension? simply change the extension to .iso and it will then read it and fully convert it. and to people who dont know how to use it. its simple. convert your iso into a pbp. once that is done take the KEYS.BIN from a game that was already converted then put it together with your pbp in a folder and voiala.

 » It works perfectly

Ok for those who haven't got it yet (I had the problem at the beginning)

Use the FIRST link to download USBlib (the second one only downloads an USBlib for 10.4). Go to USBlib and there you can choose between different packs (for 10.2/10.3/10.4). Download it for your MacOS and install it.... et voilà... Prometheus should work greatly.
Then go to PSXtoPSP and choose the ISO file.

If you've got PS1 CDs at your home: Use Toast and make an image. A new file should be created with the ending .toast
Change the ending (.toast) to .iso
et voilà!

Hey Dago watt could you please include a patch (PAL to NTSC). For this one I still have to use the windows popstation.
But great work and thanks a lot!
