After the huge update a couple of days ago, forum regular shadow77340 has once again released an update for PSPsokoban. For those of you who missed the last update, this PSP homebrew game is a port of Mariosokoban and is based on a Japanese puzzle game where players push boxes around a maze and try to put them in designated locations.

This update bumps the version up to v0.7 and includes the following changes:
  • 8 new characters Ichigo bankai, Grimmjow (bleach), Toad, Trunks (dbz), Cloud (ff7), baby mario, tails (sonic), ness (nintendo).
  • Add 3 new level
  • There is a music in the option
  • fix a bug who doesn't play correctly sounds on the main menu.
  • Floor is replaced by sprites
  • A best system of savedata ( only 1 file )
  • A lot of target has changed
  • A best system of high score , can now save the 5 first best score.
  • Can now take screenshots on game with square
  • Can now change CPU frequency , to change opend pspsokoban/data/cpufrequency.txt end write the frequency.
  • ex : if you want the game run at 266mhz write "266" on the file.
  • fix a forget on the level 23 ( missed one target)
  • Change the SDN0.at3 (music of the eboot)
The whole readme file's in French, so we ran a bit of it through the sometimes not-so-trusty Babel Fish translator and came up with the following game controls:

Controls in the editor mode:

  • O to put a way
  • X to put a wall
  • [] to put a case
  • ^ to put a objetif
  • L to put a character
  • Start to save the map
  • Select to return to the menu

Controls in the simulation mode:

  • Directional pad or joystick to move
  • Select to return to the menu

Hmmm ripping Baby Mario, Tails and other video game characters is a copyright infringement :P
Besides that I'm impressed that a 13 year old releases some nice piece of software!

 » not bad

There's lot of room for improvement, especially in the gameplay. the fact that movements are a bit laggy completely ruins the game feeling for this version.
But other than that it is really promising. Also, the fact that the programmer is only 13 year old is quite impressive !
