GTA VCS pwnage?

A lot of us here are waiting anxiously for Rockstar Leeds' Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. And by the time you're reading this, it's already out there on the shelves. But a lot of you might start to wonder if it's going to be worth it because... [cue lightning in the background] it will require you to run firmware 2.81 on your PSP. Oh yes. (Oh noes.)

It has been confirmed by GTAPSP.com, and they've posted a list of little knick-knacks that you might want to know about the game. The other tidbits of info are pretty minor, especially compared to that first bullet-point which is nagging at our brains:
  • The game requires PSP firmware version 2.81 to play. An update is included on the game disc.
  • The city appears to be VERY similar to the original Vice City in terms of layout.
  • There is a pedal bicycle in the game and controls are said to be initial to San Andreas.
  • You'll start out on the "second island" from Vice City with access to areas like the airport, army base and downtown.
  • Vic can swim for over one minute before drowning.
Ultimate pwnage? Well, a lot of you guys must be so torn now, whether you're willing to upgrade your PSP (if it isn't yet) to 2.81 just to play the game. But think of it this way: it was bound to happen. We all saw it coming anyways. Now or never, folks... Maybe it's time to own up...

Yes, firmware 2.81 emulation with Devhook would be cool... Or something similar... But I already own GTA San Andreas on my PS2 and GTA LCS on the PSP, I won't buy GTA VCS... Let's wait, I think somebody will find out a new exploit or a way to emulate 2.81...

we all knew this was gonna happen. at 1st i was planning on waiting for a hack but now i think i wont just because i find vcs and socom ftb 2 are much more fun than homebrew. im not sayin homebrew is bad its just i dont see how u would rather play homebrew than vcs and ftb2 online

1.5 or 2.71se is not all about homebrew games and emulators. there are many who choose to download games and play them for free why you waste your hard earned money on video games. touché.

Hmm, Not too many of these games are infrastructure mode.
GTA:VCS is NOT infrastructure mode enabled.
So you cannot play this game online. Quite lagggy one would think.
FTB2... I dont think i'd ever buy it. Dont know about that one, never really liked it as much as other shooters of the genere

 » Wow...

1.5 or 2.71se is not all about homebrew games and emulators. there are many who choose to download games and play them for free why you waste your hard earned money on video games. touché.

Why waste you money on anything then? People buy video games to support the creators. If everyone had the same outlook as you, there would be no more video games, because if the makers didn't make a profit, they would all go out of business. You have no problem stealing games online because you aren't taking a physical entity, but in reality you are hurting the creators. Its a shame that people like you even exist, and its what makes the world a crappy place to live. You obviously don't even work, or you'd have some respect for the amount of work that goes into creating a finished product, no matter what that product be.

   Re: 1 (Unregistered) - 2006-10-30
 » 2

I also believe in buying games to support the creators! But also, I believe in ripping off really crappy games (ie pretty much every sports title). It will either give the company initiative to create better games or put them out of business.

I mean this happened with the first GTA on PSP requiring the 2.0 firmware update. And what did it spark? A freaking firmware war!!! It started the mphgameloader and runumd and later on the amazing thing we now love called DevHook. So people people, don't worry.

The homebrew community is always hard at work at this stuff. Another amazing hack will be soon to come and all will be fine and dandy(yes both fine and dandy at one time).

These new people are just freaking out and it cracks me up. A ton has happened in this past year and when I look back it's really quite ridiculous. oh well. power to the people.

I get too much fun out of the other emulators n homebrew I'm runnin.. it'll happen.. and they do say all good things come to those who wait :D

And just another quick note on it.. by the time they do have the means to run it on a 1.5 the .cso or .iso file of the game will be out there so Rockstar might find the sales a little lower.. not that i condone the use of bootleg games ;P
