We're pretty sure that fans of video game Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas have their hands itching for a copy for quite some time now. The title was originally scheduled to be released back in November 2006. Ubisoft then delayed its release until January 2007, and was again pushed back to June.

To help you fans decide if this game's worth a visit to the video games retail store, we have for you today three gameplay videos for Rainbow Six: Vegas. The first two are regular single game footage while the last one gives us a glimpse of how the multiplayer mode looks like. Speaking of which, the said mode is possible through Ad-Hoc and Infrastructure play.

Ubisoft delays GRAW 2, Rainbow Six Vegas, and Driver 76 - Image 1We all already know that Sony needs to broaden their current library of video games for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). With that said, this development might leave you a bit upset for the rest of the day, or until your favorite titles finally launch, so be warned.

As it goes, the publisher and developer Ubisoft has just announced that some more PSP titles will not make their scheduled release dates. For one, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas for the PSP was originally expected way back in November 2006, but was pushed back to January this year, and then again to May. To make things worse, Ubisoft is now saying that fans will get the video game by "Spring."

Another Tom Clancy title, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, is now set for a June release, which is a whole month later than the original release schedule. If anyone can remember, there were some hush-hush talks about this delay a couple of weeks ago, but apparently,  Ubisoft just simply chose to remain tight-lipped about the matter until now. Lastly, Driver 76 was originally scheduled to be released this March, but now, the company explained that the title needs more development time and is hence being pushed back to June.

Well, let's just hope that they make up for the delays by delivering some well-polished games!

Delayed

Hate to disappoint you, guys. But unfortunately, the November release of Rainbow Six Vegas for both the PS3 and PSP won't be pushing through. Instead, you'd have to wait until January 30 of next year before you can get your hands on it.

Reportedly, Ubisoft's decision to delay its release may have something to do with the game's online component. It could be that the developers are only receiving additional information on the PlayStation Network just now, hence the need to do some last minute brush-ups on its online functions. Well, at least that's the theory.

But then again, the multiplayer experience the game can supposedly provide is the clincher for its marketing success. So we guess it's only right that Ubisoft holds up to its end of the bargain in ensuring that we get exactly what they promised. Getting more won't be so bad, either.

Keep posted here for more updates.

psp packshotOkay, first off, apologies for the long delay since we last brought you R6-on-the-PSP goodies (it's been a month!). But see most of the stuff you need to know about the PSP version of Rainbow Six: Vegas (also on PS3, Xbox360, PC) have already been mentioned, and screens are really hard to come by. So hopefully, what we have with us today will make up for the delay.

Ubisoft has just released the official PSP and PC packshots for the Tom Clancy-based game, and I dunno if it's just me, or does the person on the cover start to look like Tom Hanks if you stare at him long enough? Weird.

Anyway, if you haven't been reading up on the game, here's a brief rundown of what's in store for your handhelds when R6 Vegas hits the shelves:
  • Tag-Team Gameplay
  • Tactical Observation
  • Take Cover
  • Tailored Control System
  • Unlockable Content
  • Terrorist Hunt Mode
  • Multiplayer via wireless (Ad- Hoc) or online play (Infrastructure) in Survival and Team Survival multiplayer modes.
pc packshotAs for the PC version, naturally some of the game features are bumped up, especially the multiplayer feature 'cuz the PC version will let you and 15 others work your way around Sin City and save the unknowing hostages from big-time terrorists.

But like its console brethren, R6 for the PC will also have the following key game features:
  • New Leader and Team - Logan Keller (recon expert), Michael Walter (heavy weapons and demolition expert), Jung Park (Long range and electronics specialist)
  • Special Order Location
  • Observe - Plan - Assault
  • Customizable Multiplayer Experience
  • Advanced AI
  • Real-Time Immersion
And that's just to name a few. Rainbow Six: Vegas is expected to become available for the PC come November 28, while PSP owners will get their copies on December 5th.

r6:vegas psp

As we've mentioned in earlier articles, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas on the PSP won't simply be a port of the 360 and PS3 versions, the handheld version will have a different storyline as well as characters. Of course the setting will still be in the gambling capital of the world, but there are a lot of other elements that will remain exclusive to the PSP.

On the PSP, you'll get to take the role of Rainbow operative Brian Armstrong who takes on what seems to be your ordinary rescue mission with the help of sniper specialist Shawn Rivers. But what do you know, it's NOT just your ordinary mission after all!*fake gasps* So, to make the mission more interesting, put in a terrorist organization led by an evil guy named Lucas Picares who's set on poisoning Vegas residents via the local public water supply. And what do you do? Naturally, you try and stop Picares and his crew from putting their evil plans into action.

A few notes about the game's single player and multiplayer mode: the solo player will be able to customize the controls where you can put movement and viewing on the face buttons, D pad, or analog stick. You'll also be able to back up against cover in a third-person view, and use a lock-on feature that'll let you choose between body and headshots.

As for the multiplayer, the six-player offering will work with both ad hoc and infrastructure modes. Ubisoft also says that "classic" multiplayer maps from previous games will be available on the PSP. The game will also feature Survival and team survival modes will be on offer, which are like Rainbow Six's versions of deathmatch and team deathmatch.

The under-the-door snake camera will let you take a sneaking-up view of what's in store for you in the next room. Another cool feature in the game is that you'll get to switch from Armstrong to Rivers at certain points in the game. The PSP isn't exactly known to be the best console for FPS games, so here's to hoping that Rainbow Six will take the first step in changing exactly that. Rainbow Six: Vegas for the PSP is slated for release on December 5th.

Must. Resist. Urge. to make "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" joke. Unghh!

Whew! They say seeing is believing, so here you are, six of the very first screens available for the portable version of Ubisoft's Rainbow Six: Vegas. The game is set to follow the main events of its console brethren, but naturally the PSP version will feature a certain amount of exclusive content.

And just a reminder of what you can expect in terms of gameplay, Ubisoft has pledged the following:

  • Tag-Team Gameplay : In single player mode you're able to play as both field operative and sniper.
  • Tactical Observation : You basically have the ability to use high tech equipment like snake cams to check out a room, strategically plan out assaults before taking terrorists down.
  • Take Cover : You can switch to third person view while taking cover. This allows you to examine the situation to before you make your next move.
  • Tailored Control System : controls are specifically designed to fit the PSP.
  • Unlockable Content : Play good, get rewarded. A standard in any game looking for replay value.
  • Terrorist Hunt Mode : This mode allows you to hone your skills. The gameplay in this mode is simple. Enter single-player maps and hunt down spawning terrorists one at a time.
  • Multiplayer : Allows you and five of your buddies to fight together via wireless (Ad- Hoc) or online play (Infrastructure) in Survival and Team Survival multiplayer modes.
Personally, I'm a little skeptical, especially after the buggy appearance of Prince of Persia on the PSP, not to mention Sam Fisher's less than stellar debut on the handheld with Splinter Cell Essentials. Sure the screens look great, but Ubisoft are going to have their work cut out to convince me they mean business this time around.

Games that have people's name attached to the title seem to be doing well. Great  examples are Tony Hawk and Tiger Woods-themed games. However, there's also one more familiar name that needs to be mentioned: Tom Clancy.

Tom must be really happy right now. Besides being an author of various military-related books, his name is attached to two games that are bound to be as much of a best-seller as his paperbacks. Ka-ching!

UbisoftTom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent (Xbox 360 and Wii): series has so far sold 14M units globally.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas (Xbox 360, PS3, PSP): another of Tom's name on one of the better sellers: 14M again.
Rayman Raving Rabbids (Wii, Nintendo DS): The Rayman is back to sell more than 17M units worldwide.
Far Cry Vengeance (Wii): FPS series that sold 2M worldwide.
Brothers In Arms D-Day (PSP): young but sold 3Mso far. Good start.
Blazing Angels Squadrons of WWII (Wii): planes and WWII--some of the things you'll need for a good game.
Prince of Persia Rival Swords (PSP): This old game has been selling over 8M globally.
Petz (Nintendo DS): Top Ten on GBA
Red Steel (Wii): The FPS created just for the Wii. Looks awesome.
GT Pro Series (Wii): takes the Wii controllers for a real ride.
Open Season (Xbox 360, PSP, Nintendo DS, Wii) the movie-tie-in game that's all over the gaming consoles and handhelds this year.
Star Wars Lethal Alliance (Nintendo DS, PSP): the first Star Wars built just for the next-gen handhelds.
Monster 4X4 World Circuit (Wii): Scary and big trucks come rolling down the Wii.

Rainbow Six VegasTom Clancy's Rainbow Six series, is finally gracing the screens of PSPs everywhere with Ubisoft's six person squad game, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas.

The game is currently being developed by Ubisoft's studio in Quebec City and will be available during the holidays. The story is set to parallel the next-generation versions of the game, but of  course, the PSP version will feature exclusive content.

Here are other key PSP features:
  • Multiplayer : Allows you and five of your buddies to fight together via wireless (Ad
  • Hoc) or online play (Infrastructure) in Survival and Team Survival multiplayer
    modes.
A main feature of the game involves protecting Vegas as the city 'finds itself in chaos.' Terrorist hunts, the ability to switch quickly to your snipers, a take-cover feature, Vegas in Chaos... it's probably safe to assume that a lot of riot control is in this game.

If you want a preview, and get an idea of what the game might look like on your PSP, you could check out this trailer for the console versions of this game.

Anyway, we'll keep you updated as soon as we get more info.
