Thats exciting. Finally a timeframe in which we can expect some major changes to the PSP experience :D.
How are we sure this is for real... I mean I'd rather hear timeframes from Sony than some UK magazine..
We don't, as it states in the article. Still, the predictions sound pretty reasonable.
the mag is
Playstation2 official magazine-uk special edition PSP playstation portable the offical guide book vol 4 and the next issue was due out on the 22 June but were still waiting
this is the same mag that has the demo disk with loco roco, burnout, lemmings, mercury, medievil, toca, wipeout and virtua tennis, they also tell us were getting 7,000 PSone games for the psp if my scanner was working I would send it in to QJ

as 'skunk' said, this is the official playstation magazine and the whole article in the mag talks about the future releases, these are official dates set by sony and they are most probably correct because the magazine is official.
this looks interesting. Il be geting these add-ons wen i get a modchip in ma psp
If you are at 2.6 or lower... Do not upgrade... The reason for these flashy updates by Sony has the sole pupose of killing the homebrew and emulation scene for the PSP... I (Unfortunately) have a 2.6 firmware... But that doesn't mean I can't enjoy my PSPs emulators, and homebrew games... Eyetoy maybe a good reason to upgrade... GPS... no thanks... PS1 emulator... I am happy with my N64, Snes, Sega, NES, and gameboy emulators... And I dunno what video calls are... So don't upgrade! keep homebrew alive! and above all... Tell Sony what we want! We want homebrew, and are PSPs functions not limited! Well thats how I feel... P.S. normally im registered... forgot my pass though...
Humho.
Modchip won't add those things yet methinks. And I still worry that the modchip may never get these things if its installed....
LOOKING FORWARD
"Perhaps the most thrilling add-on for your PSP is another October firmware update which will enable you to play full PSone games.
Phil Harrison revealed at the Game Devlopers Conference 2006 San Jose, that the update will let you boot games from your memory stick and grab a PSone emulator via sony's new E-distribution system
And while your hand-held will provide a link to playstations past, it will also be ready to hook-up to your PS3, due for a simulaneous worldwide release in November"
so it looks like the ps3 update will be in the October's firmware update
looks like there will be a huge update in october
i'm sure glad to hear this. All this sh*t will require the latest firmware, of course. Also, it's very nice of $ony to, after someone spends all that time and money getting a modchip bought and installed, try to stop it from working in the next firmware update. So, when someone switches the modchip to their new firmware, ALERT: FIRMWARE WILL STAY NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. F*CK YOU, YOUR MODCHIP, AND YOUR HOMEBREW
Homebrew that, for free, developers have made for us. I've had enough, i'm going to $ony's forum and complaining about this. I've got all the backup i need.
In October, Want that PS1 Emulator and TBH, I currently have FW2.6 and as much as I enjoy the Megadrive, The lack of compatability, the long boot up time (have to go through GTA) kinda wears off the effect, Looking forward to just getting games like MGS VR Missions which should keep me busy, PLUS the next GTA will also be out in October and No Doubt that will require an Update.
Also, Please No-One say "Well It's your own fault for upgrading to 2.6", When i Got my PSP it was already at 2.01 and I wanted WMA compatability.
'Then comes the GPS adaptor in September, '
Adapter.
October.
were these dates not implied through the slides at the sony conference? it's easy to guess October for the PSP add-ons, so that it doesn't interrupt with PS3's launch the month after, and brings a larger audience to the sony's portable table, eventually KOing them with PS3 compatibility.
as for the september release date for the eyetoy, im excited. finally, my psp will serve as something useful besides a music player and enjoying classic games on the go through homebrew.
Well It's your own fault for upgrading to 2.6
Well It's your own fault for upgrading to 2.6
The exact dates for the Eyetoy and the GPS
Eye-Toy = September 6th
GPS = October 6th
I have 2 PSPs, So I am in very good shape to keep in every scene.
Another wondeful QJ news post swiped straight from DCemu
Sony may figure something out that modchipped PSPs won't run UMD's, accessoires or whatever anymore. But writing to the modchip seems to go directly without the need of the PSPs firmware. So flashing older or modified firmwares is always supported. This meens that smart developers can always make a sollution that new UMDs and accessoires stay working on UP-PSPs (eg. Epsilon BIOS, Undiluted Platinum: Homebrew on 2.71 news Jun 23, 2006 at 08:28PM by Jamie M.)
Why doesn't Sony like to support homebrew? I just don't get it. Homebrew doesn't even affect the PSP in bad ways, it's actually helping the PSP. Without homebrew, PSP would be struggling badly.
That's rich. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones... especially since this article has a WHOLE lot more substance than the DCEmu post.
...and isn't that what sourcing is all about? See the Via link? Sourced. No foul. All's good. Quit yer *****in', Kaiser. :)
because with homebrew comes ISO loaders my friend...
It's funny how sony was looking at us playing our super nintendo and sega and being good about it but once the UMD was dumped and ISO loaders were made they got serious. I'll bet if the UMD was never dumped we would have homebrew...
YEAH
Why not just make a place people can submit homebrew. If Sony think its good they could sign it and distribute it themselves. It would make a lot of people upgrade.
@28 but I dont thing that sony will sign the iso-psp games :(
QJ hasn't been getting news sent in lately so they repeated an article... AGAIN.
When have we posted this? AFAIK, its not a dupe or a repeat article.
I already upgraded to 2.71 anyway as I was getting bored of playing old games I played ages ago, and want to get a hold of new games (which are surely going to require newer firmware), so these news sound good to me... I'll be happy to buy PSOne games, as long as they're cheap (no more than 5 bucks)...

Here's something that caught the eye of just about everyone back at QJ. It's a scan of what appears to be a UK PSP magazine that has appeared across the Internet. The magazine claims to know what dates the
