Triple Triad v0.1 - Image 1 Triple Triad v0.1 - Image 2

Months back, we featured homebrew ports of one of the famous games featured in PS1's Final Fantasy VIII- Triple Triad. Almost every gamer who got tickled with the Squall-Rinoa romantic tension knows this game, but for those who don't know what Triple Triad is and who Squall and Rinoa are, well here's a little refresher.

Triple Triad is a semi-complex card game wherein you'll have to obtain as many of the opponents cards as possible, using a number system. It can be quite strategic and from what other people who are FF lovers are saying, quite addictive.

So why the trip down memory lane? After Sakya and JBird gave their rendition of the card game in the PSP, now comes TheEmulatorGuy's turn. The good developer entered this WIP into the PSP3D Contest and so far have been getting good feedback. Since there are still a lot of room for improvement, it only features the capability to play against AI players using closed and random rules - for now.

TheEmulatorGuy has big plans for this creation of his as he plans on adding two player support and all the rules featured in FFVIII. Aside from that, in the future, the game will be coupled with the RPG system that will enable players to trade and play with other characters. Things are indeed looking up for this game.

As always, you could comment about this Triple Triad port and who knows, you might help TheEmulatorGuy win the competition. Not only would he win goodies and other giveaways, but the ego-boost might make him slave harder for this one. Let's wait and see, for now, give the game a chance and try it out.

Well, Okay, ill be the first to create a PRODUCTIVE post. This is without a doubt, the best card game in any Final Fantasy game. Sir, I commend you for this momentous and brilliant Homebrew application, and sincerely hope you dont scrap it. I really cant wait to see all of these features; I was a fiend for this game years ago, and hope that this is a successful port.

I used to play this game for hours on end in FF8. Im glad to see that someone took the initiative to create this game for the PSP Homebrew Scene. Keep up the great work and I am eagerly awaiting a final release!

 » Awesome stuff

I love tripple triads and have played many different kind of attempts of remaking the game online and on the computer. It'll be nice to see a replica of FF8's tripple triad on a PSP. Keep up the good work 'n get all those rules in. :D

Loved the version that Sakya and JBird made, I'll try this one soon. Really looking forward to ad-hoc, and the RPG element sounds really interesting!

 » hm..

Well, I didn't download this one but from the last time I play the other triple trad on psp. It is smooth slow motion... as In card picking and moving the card from hand to board.
It's very time consuming. So I hope that you will increase the speed more.

 » Just Voicing Support

Not a whole lot to say besides I've been playing the old one for a few months now, and welcome any advances in the game. I hope you are able to pick this up and run with it! I'll be watching for news on this item.

 » Please...

By the gods, PLEASE keep working on this! I have the first version, and the second one seems too hokey for me. But if you keep working on this, say the ability to choose your cards, I will bow to you.
