Rott099gibsDeniska has updated his PSP port of Rise of the Triad to version 0.99. Most notably this version includes MUSIC support! This continues his long run of ports, including the likes of Dave Gnukem, SuperTux and Defendguin (plus more.) Rise of the Triad is built on a modified Wolfenstein 3d Engine and created by Apogee in 1994. Changes in this release include:

- Added music support via timidity (read installation instructions below)
- Overclocked the CPU to 333Mhz - the game seems to run smoother

Music Support

If you want music support, make sure to copy timidity.cfg & instruments folder in to ms:/PSP/GAME/rott . The compact (no thrills) timidity version is provided in shareware 1.5 folder. If you want quality music, download the timidity instruments and copy timidity.cfg & instruments directory from there. he downside: the full version is large (~17MB) and is going to pause the game for ~10 sec every time music changes. If you have time, you may want to experiment with sounds and create a custom midi mapping for the game.

Kudos to you, deniska for releasing such a fine port and continuing to improve upon it with the addition of music and overclocking the CPU. =)
If I may make a small suggestion for your next release on ROTT, would it be possible for you to implement cheats (kind of like what the Doom port has), it might be fun to have cheats with the next release, but it's not really necessary, the decision is yours. ;)

I'm looking forward to playing this new current release that's available now v0.99, and just wish to say, Thank You and keep up the good work.

By the way, if you look closely at the picture provided on the main " News Page", the picture of ROTT shows one of your enemy's being blown away while a grinning skull and a dismembered arm flipping a middle finger at you is all that's left of your opponent. Heh Heh Heh Heh. *< Evil Grin >* >=] That's what made it so fun and funny to play Apogee's ROTT. Now, I can have fun playing this classic FPS on my PSP !

deniska, if you ever decide to port out some more Apogee games, there is one game that features a green Alien in it, but I can't remember what the title of that game was, and also there is another game which I think was made by Apogee as well, Halloween Harry. Boy, would I like to see those above two games I mentioned ported over to the PSP. ;)

Anyways, once again Thank You A Plenty for this fine port of a classic FPS deniska.

Awesome job, Deniska. I'm glad somebody out ther appreciates this game enough to port it to the PSP.

You get bonus points if you port Blake Stone to the PSP...

The last version froze after 5 minutes, will this one do the same?

To the admin:
May I ask who is bacalvin and why he is stated as the developer for the game on the download page???
Common folks! Don't make mistakes like that if you want my future ports posted on this site ;-)
I am not asking for cash like some greedy shell developers ;-) Just get the facts straight..
You make way too many mistakes and that makes us all look stupid.. In the previous release of ROTT you made up stuff about ROTT using Doom's engine.. PLease don't do this anymore ;)
Best regards,
