Road Dog v1 - WiFi sniffer with sound - Image 1

Homebrew developer Art dropped by QJ.NET PSP Development Forum and released a new application called Road Dog. The program is currently on version 1 and is actually a WiFi sniffer.

For those not quite familiar with such applications, Road Dog is similar to califrag's wireless hotspot scanner called warPSP. Art mentioned that he was prompted to make a program because he can't compile califrag's work to modify it to his preference.

Road Dog v1 now sports sound so that users will be alerted about connections via their headphones even if the PlayStation Portable is in their pockets. Art talked about the following details:
  • This is a WiFi connection sniffer based on sdk sample, and uses Intrafont.
  • I will probably continue with a similar program, and include sound, but drop Intrafont unless a solution is found.
  • l looks fine to start until you get a few connections on the screen at once, and it starts printing things on top of each other.
  • I'm not sure if this is my fault or not. The main.c source file is included anyway.
  • I haven't seen an app use Intrafont, so it might be worth checking out what it looks like.
Should you give this application a try and happen to be a C programmer yourself, Art would greatly appreciate it if you will help him locate bugs and any other problems.

 » Crash when quitting

ok it works nice.

i would like next versions to identify type of encryption (WEP, WPA, etc..)

Now it crashes when I quit it.

No key has any function, at least it should have a key to quit (Triangle for example)

Seeing as it is for 1.50 kernel there is only one sort of encryption, WEP. So saying that it is encrypted means that it will only say it is WEP.. (WPA-PSK is shown as WEP).
So saying that it is Secured means that it thinks it is WEP, and OPEN there is no protection.. I thought it made sense.

I've got only one word for this.

AWESOME! Much better than WiFi Sniffer, although the interface of this is pretty basic.

I'll be waiting for updates on this one!

 » Kernel?

Tried running this on my Slim (3.71 M33-4), typical error associated with a program that only runs on 1.5 Kernel.

If this was compiled for 1.5 kernel, could you please note it in the post next time? .>

@Squirrels, run it with eLoader ;-)

@JaXeRiR, how is it better then WiFi Sniffer? They are both the same things, one logs it down the other doesn't.

@Pwn3r1001, this rescans continuously, much better for looking for a network ;)

p.s. I'm buying a friends Fat PSP today so i'll have both a slim and a fat to play with, i'll just run road dog on the fat natively prolly (:
