Gunnar Hero was inspired by video game Guitar Hero - Image 1

Amazing homebrew game Gunnar Hero just got updated and is currently in version 0.13. It was created by homebrew developer HardHat and inspirations for this one mostly came from video game Guitar Hero. Now, if you're still not sure what the heck we are talking about, maybe you can watch the teaser video for the homebrew game that we posted a while ago.

With that out of the way, Gunnar Hero version 0.13 comes in with a lot of changes that are sure to make you rock out to your heart's delight. Among the many improvements, probably the most important one is that Gunnar Hero doesn't crash anymore when starting the previously posted song packs. HardHat mentioned that while the bug is not fully fixed, Gunnar Hero just exits at the end of some songs in some instances instead of crashing totally.

The graphics of Gunnar Hero has also been improved. You can see in this version that the stage, as well as the speakers, are more polished than the previous release. Cameras, likewise, received upgrades as well. As if these changes are not enough, hardhat promised that future releases will include the following:
  • Fire effect on correct buttons
  • Nicer rendered buttons
  • Support sustain notes
  • Easy, Medium and Expert levels added to the existing Hard level
  • Less crashing
  • High scores and Internet high scores
  • Selectable skins
  • More tolerance of misnamed files
  • Much polishing
  • Modder's guide

Okay, how the f*ck do you expect to have rap songs on this game? ITS A GUITAR GAME!!!! NOT A "LETS SEE HOW MUCH BASS I CAN GET IN THIS SONG, AND HOW MANY B*TCHES I CAN SAY I GOT" GAME!

Don't expect the world to cater to your wants just because YOU want some rap or hiphop in A F*CKIN GUITAR GAME THAT IS MADE FOR ROCK MUSIC, you dumb piece of sh*t

I haven't tried it, but all of the files that need to be updated are in the data directory: the .PNG files are what were changed.

 » Bugs be gone.

Well, I can't wait to get rid of the bugs either. But I have only had 6 hours sleep in the last few days. I need to take a break. Then the bug will be clear to me.

I made a build on Sunday that worked with every single song on the list. Then I made a small update before I released this version. I am slowly going crazy. I'll try again, but it'll take time to fix properly, I guess. Maybe I'll try a Linux version with memory protection to find the bug in the menus. It's in there somewhere.

 » yeah wtf?

Yeah I am having all the same problems as before.

Except now, only one of the songs shows up which freezes when I select it, and the other one is "Unknown" and when I try to play it, there's nothing there.

Hardhat c'mon! This could be such a great game if it actually worked!

   by Ghost (Unregistered) - 2007-03-19
 » No change

I don't see any difference between the versions. Come on hardhat, make sure it acually works before you release it!

   by Olicf5 (Unregistered) - 2007-03-19
 » you will get there

Dont let these guys get you down, this game has so much potential and with a few big updates (that work) this will be realy fun to play, already in your first relese it has some catch that makes me wont to play again.
So please keep updating as i cant wait untill this game is fully playable.

» fix bugs before implementing new features

Yah, the fact that it crashes when trying to start up a song is quite annoying. Sounds like it crashes for most people. I don't know why it crashes, but hardhat, you should definitely fix the major bug before concentrating on making new features.

No point in new features if people can't even play it. That's my 2¢

   Re: HardHat - 2007-03-20
 » Job 1 is stablility

I keep making builds that seem stable in testing. I tested a version on Sunday which worked with every single song. Then the release version does not :-( I will be a happy camper when this works more solidly.
