Rumor: PSP firmware update on the horizon? - Image 1The latest information from the rumor mill is that the PSP will be receiving a firmware update by mid-September. This information was found by PSP Vault in an article about a Sony VAIO feature that creates 1-Seg broadcasts on a Memory Stick Duo.

It specifically mentions that "a PSP system software update is planned for mid-September for the playback of recorded 1-Seg programs." Aside from that, there was no other information given in the article regarding the update.

It should be noted that this rumor further supports earlier news that a firmware update is in the works because of a bug in playing Biohazard Director's Cut on the PSP. The official statement from Sony stated that the bug will be fixed in a firmware update in the beginning of September. Could it be that the two firmware updates are one and the same?

Yes, if you go to the online manual on Sony right now, it's for 3.60. It also has features markes for PSP-2000 only.

sup? I'm the c@sh guy. I'm just too lazy to post pics. besides, i'm not really the guy who owns the account. he pays me to promote for him. i did the @ thing because the word c a s h doesn't appear. see: cash.

as for just being a smart kid, lol, I was hoping that by being funny, my friend would get more referrals. he pays me a dollar for each referral i get him. but seriously, try it out. he's really gotten checks. i just find it easier to get paid a dollar per referral than to do the work associated with setting up an account. again the account is www.c@shcrate.com/259295 (replace the @ with an A) ;P

geez i hope they can decrypt it so we aren't left behind. (also didn't sony say they were phazing out psp 1001.)

   Re: MrT (Unregistered) - 2007-09-05
 » Duh

Sure they are phazing out the psp, just like they stopped producing "fat" PS2s. That doesnt mean we wont get all the new games to play... including the required firmware to run it.
   by James (Unregistered) - 2007-09-05
 » Calling Team M33 :)

I hope M33 can decrypt this new firmware. I have a feeling Sony will have made it harder to though.

   Re: huh.. (Unregistered) - 2007-09-05
 » ..

itz team C+D that decrypts m33 and wilcard just make firmware out of the decrypted files...

   Re: addie4u2nv - 2007-09-06
 » m33

m33 is working now on a 3.60 firmware hack used with need 4 speed rivals or carbon its one of the games.it should be released a few weeks after the psp slim launch.

   Re: .. (Unregistered) - 2007-09-06
 » ..

@ addie4u2nv carbon has been out for a while now... and from what i heard sony will be releasing a official firmware for the psp in around mid september...

im pretty sure the new game will com out after that

and i wonder if they will have 2 difrent updates... 1 for slim and another for the fat one

sinse the flash seems to be diffrent...
sony did pretty good with this.. back to the drawing board..

 » I SEE....

IM pretty sure once Team Wild C*rd finishes with 3.52, they will make one for this new firmware. Team WildC*ard will decrypt it just watch....plus with the help of M33, it will happen alot sooner

   Re: FreePlay (Unregistered) - 2007-09-05
 » ...

WildC*rd and M33 don't decrypt firmwares. They just make custom ones.

i think they might do something so pandoras battery wont work like move files or summin

   Re: FreePlay (Unregistered) - 2007-09-05
 » Dear Bob

Seeing how Pandora's Battery works on a PSP *WITHOUT ANY FIRMWARE*, it's not possible to block it with a new firmware.

   Re: Hellraiser (Unregistered) - 2007-09-06
 » .

The whole point of this new PSP is to block homebrew. The new features are pretty pointless.

Sony lied about the first PSP having TV output.

The new PSP is cheaply made. The UMD mechanism is crap and the smaller size means it could overheat, especially with new 333mhz games.

No more infared port (could have been useful.)

Don't buy this POS!

   Re: FreePlay (Unregistered) - 2007-09-09
 » Imbecile.

The 333mHz speed has nothing to do with the UMD drive. That's the CPU speed.

Lern u a buuk or tu.

If you're hating Sony so much, why are using a PSP?

Think before you write something.
Go play with your M$ console, X-Bot.

Silver tiger you are, to be blunt, a *****hole.

How childish are you, that you resort to insults and name calling. Your head is shoved so far into the ass of ignorance... with no chance of seeing the light of day again.

   Re: WACOMalt (Unregistered) - 2007-09-06
 » to silver-tiger

people use the PSP because it is very powerful (or was when it was released). and because of homebrew it doesn't suck. I do not support sony, bu I can not deny that hackers have made the PSP worth the money, (though I i wish I could pay the hackers 200 bucks for it instead of sony)

   by ^_^ (Unregistered) - 2007-09-05
 » goodie!

i can't wait to see what happens! i've already put off updating my friends custom firmwares, because i have a good feeling there will be a newer custom firmware this month!

i don't care how many times Sony updates their official firmware. If it won't run my emulators, it is useless to me...!

*also included in this update:
- video out function for psp-1000 series
-flash0 space increased to 64mb
- bluetooth function
- and more security for your benifits

   Re: iwantanimac (Unregistered) - 2007-09-06
 » sure...

They can pull 32mb out of nowhere, somehow create a PAL and NTSC output on old hardware AND add a bluetooth transmitter/reciever using a simple software update. It's a wonder Vista doesn't just create the 3000GB of RAM you really need to run it...

ehh, that wasn't meant to be serious.

   Re: PBE (Unregistered) - 2007-09-06

also meant to be in the update...
a self distruct button
a 50000 mb of ram
liquid cooling
able to play all the homebrew and iso's you want

and live pron!!

I can't wait until 3.60 gets a custom firmware for it. Sony gets owned every time by the psp hackers. :D
