RumorTarget Manhunt 2 - Image 1 Reports have come in that Target is pulling Manhunt 2 (Wii, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 2) from their shelves. A member of the Evil Avatar forums, Dr. Finger, said that he got news of an internal memo spreading within the company which states that every branch will stop selling the game and to refuse all future deliveries of the title for all systems.

According to the rumor, this action is being taken because of the game's violent content and the unfavorable media coverage the game has been getting. If you missed our previous coverage, you may already know that various groups and individual such as Common Sense Media and Jack Thompson have been launching campaigns to boycott the game.

If this rumor holds true and you wish to pick up a copy, other major retailers such as GameStop, Best Buy and Circuit City still have plans of carrying Manhunt 2. Hopefully, Target will release an official statement about the rumor soon to prevent gamers from having to spend time wondering if this shop will still continue to carry the game.

if they do stop the sales of this game it does not really matter
cuz loads of people already have the UMD or a UMD rip and if they do stop the sales people will start selling the game on ebay and others will start to download the rip of torrent sites

 » just one question

Is this game really _that_ brutal? I've played it for about one hour and I mean, what's so bad about it? Theres much blood, so what. The kill-scenes aren't good anyway because it's not me doing the kill, it's me pressing a button and then the guy i should control kills the other guys. Honestly, in my opinion this game is not that brutal, not least because the kills are a movie and not a game.

 » thats no rumor

i work at target and i saw the memo..... it said, " Due to the violence nature of the game we will not be carrying it."

kinda dumb if you ask me because my target cards every guest that buys a M rated game.....and if they are not able to show an id I simply tell them to come back with an ID or your parent......

i know ima stupid manager

 » This is dumb.

Apparently all of these people who are complaining about Manhunt 2 haven't been in front of a television or sat in a movie theater in the last decade plus. Someone should tell them that it is alright because it is not real. There are worse things out there today than this that no one is complaining about. How many gory movies have come out here in the U.S. in the last few years that released without boycott, threats or unnecessary editing?

What is the point of having a rating system if we are gonna have to go through this garbage every time something similar is released. Frankly, I'm irritated that Rockstar gave in to them and edited the game as they did.

If society (and Jack T.) want to go after something to make their weak little hearts feel better then they need to go after the companies selling mature rated games to kids instead of the companies making the games. Kids sneak into R (read Mature) rated movies all the time but no one is going after the movie studios or the movie theaters.

Get a life and police your own children people. Rockstar needs to find their testicles and MAN UP next time this PR game begins.

» They did try that before

Remember hot coffee?? They were fighting that thing to the death yet they still lost. There not dumb, they know if they didn't edit it, it wouldn't be sold in stores. They are pulling out hairs over this game, and you can see by their reactions they want to make sure this stays. But when it comes to the distributors, they don't have much control.

 » Good news...

Hopefully other stores will follow with Target and pull this game off shelves. We need to send a message to ESRB, who should have kept with the AO rating this game deserves. This along with movies like SAW and others need to be removed from shelves...its this kind of media that rots out minds. People who play/watch this crap are sick.

you are a weak minded idiot... if you don't like porn, don't watch it. if you don't like violent action movies, don't watch them. if you don't like violent video games, don't play them. stop being an a55h0|3 who wants to police everyone else's activities. and if you're worried about your kids, get involved in their life and don't let them play it. as for me, i'm a grown a55 man, and if i wanna watch slashers, play manhunt, and jerk off to midget porn that's my business - not yours so fu(k off!!!

 » How's Osama??

GaveUp Tomorrow... How is your boy Osama Bin Laden doing now a days? I assume by your post that he is your best friend since you too wish to police my life and remove all that you deem unholy and therefore unfit for it.

Do me a favor and go back to Northern Pakistan where you won't have internet. You will blend in perfectly with the other brainwashed people and can beat all the women, children and men that have ideas outside of yours. Don't forget to scream Glory to God as you beat the unholy. Nothing says godliness like a bit of the old ultra violence, eh?

Those of us who like freedom will stay here and support our freedoms by either buying that which we deem fit for us and ours or not buying what we deem unfit.

Good luck in life.

What are your views on that guy Jack Thompson? I'm really curious.

   Re: ThomasBags - 2007-11-04
» This game actually is discussing against violent media

Later on in the game it is showing negative views on how violent crap is broadcaster on television and on children's shows. This is also just another view on human instinct for violence. We do kill, remember that and in the right situation almost anyone has the potential to kill another.

It's just a game, there are at least 50+ other places to get it.
As for my self will purchase at where they have the best deals ;]

I really hate to say it but all those guys who think that the game should be removed are SFS, why here the reason, first the game is a piece of art that you kill to survive , you don't kill random people, the game has the horror feeling and cartoonish, I think they are affraind of their own words.

Small victory for the haters. I suggest you all get your copies quickly.

Seriously these retailers gotta stop being BI+CHES. They're hating on a game minors can't afford anyway. While they can get in to see Saw 4 and stuff like that for 7.50. I'm getting tired of this crap.

   by YAMI ANUBIS X - 2007-11-05
 » OH MY GOD!

Yo this game isnt that bad and brutal, there are worse games than this game and those don't even have an AO rating, I think Jack just hates Rockstar.

I mean I remember the only games that are supposed to recieve AO ratings, is if it had porn or nudity, sex and such in cinematics but this game doesnt have that stuff in it and its gory and such but this does not deserve an AO rating nor does it deserve to be taken off of the shelves cause if this game deserves an AO rating cause of the gore factor and crap, I gotta say thats a load of crap.

Theres Soldier of Fortune 1, 2, and 3 for PS2, Xbox and Xbox 360 and that games REALLY REALLY GORY but it still has an M rating and you can shoot anyone anywhere and all this blood comes out of the places that you shoot like the butt and alot of other places but that game doesnt have an AO rating.

I think this is a little stupid for a game like this to have an AO rating cause of gore, I just think Jack is doing this cause of the sex mini game in the San Andreas game, when it first came out.

I thought that the only games that need AO ratings are nude, sex type games like Leisure Suit Larry NOT BLOOD, GUTS AND GORE WITH CUSSING!
