The PSP and Netherlands are fine - Image 1This is a follow-up to our report the other day that Sony recalled all of Netherlands PSP supply because of plans to replace them with "unflashable ones."

Despite many confirmations from various sources and even testaments from QJ.net readers, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's Nick Sharples maintained that no such thing occurred. While the SCEE Director of Corporate Communications admitted that there's a supply issue in the said region, Sharples commented that this is due to an increase in demand brought about by recent price cuts.

He even referred to a recent statement by David Reeves where the official uttered that PSP sales have surged by 40% across the PAL region. The following are Nick Sharples' exact statements about the matter,

Following the recent price cut of PSP, sales have increased dramatically and retail stocks are temporarily low, which is why some of your readers may be finding it difficult to source a PSP at the moment. There is nothing wrong with the PSP, in the Netherlands or anywhere else...

Lastly, when the homebrew scene was brought up and asked about Sony's official stance, Nick Sharples simply declined to comment.

 » true or not?

It could be they are just denying it that they only want PSP's with "unflashable" firmware in the shops.

Would it be possible to say unconfirmed sometimes for news? Why would he lie so as not to hurt the modders? Stupid crap!

they might have changed somehow updates are done
lets say only updating via umd, so no access from memory stick, or only updating via a network update...and locking the ms map or format to only allow psp default folders to be used...

 » Homebrew and Sony

I think Sony will always "try" and limit homebrew, particularly when it comes to piracy, but they know homebrew sells PSPs. It's like the tobacco companies trying to stop people from smoking.

Maybe the shop Game Mania still has one?
I'm wondering why there is no recall for the pink psp? Because nobody wants it?

Anyone with connections to a Dutch retail store, please scan the Sony document asking for the SKUs to be returned to Sony and upload it to rapidshare, etc. Then come back here and post the url please!
