Sony's currently standing on shaky ground, with the impending announcement of layoffs just around the corner. SCEE, however, remains a safe haven. Sony's European games division has given word that they have no plans to reduce their headcount, and will be safe from Sony's cost-cutting measures. That done, let it not be said that I only write depressing news. The assurance from SCEE comes straight after Sony announced that it expects to post a US$ 2.9 billion loss, and has lowered its projection sales for the PSP and the PS2. Layoffs in Sony's other game divisions is still not assured though. Worries over SCEE's future was already preempted by SCEE boss David Reeves, who said last December that they're "certainly not planning to cut back in personnel at all." |

» good to hear
that great news for scee, especially seeing as they get screwed on every other deal, gaming wise anyways (PSN etc)
and heres to hoping those ppl that dont buy an outdated PS2, buy a new PS3 hopefully at a cheaper price (after a price cut maybe)

» pricecut
means they'll just lose more money!

» Not to be negative but...
SCEE are the one division that NEEDS personnel cutbacks, cheifly because of how badly it's operated. Sacking some of the dead wood and re-hiring fewer but more competent staff would actually be a bonus.
Sorry, but someone had to say it.

» I agree
Sony's gaming division is in serious need of major reform. (sounds like a government scandal, dont it?)

» i think they should
make anyone redundant who say 'i think we should leave the europians till last' as usual!
that would be most of the SCEE then!
