Sale time: lower prices for UK games

MCV came up with some breaking news which UK gamers will definitely find interesting. Game retailers in the UK are slashing prices, which means it's a great time to hunt for those games you wanted to buy but were too broke to get when they first came out.

Some retailers are selling Xbox 360 games for a lot less, with games like Dead Rising and Splinter Cell: Double Agent costing around Ł25 (US$ 49). Expect some really good games to cost less than Ł30 for the next few weeks

They've also priced DS and PSP games a lot lower. Some DS games are going for under Ł10 (US$ 19), while GTA: Vice City Stories for the PSP is selling for Ł19.99 (US$ 40).

The sourced page has a short list of some favorites and their prices per store, including a bunch of PS2 hits. All in all, now's a good time to make a sweep of your favorite game stores to rack up some great games for the summer months. Enjoy!

Sony had BETTER make some REALLY reductions on the PS3 when they bring it out in UK... If it's anywhere near the price it was going to be at launch over here it's simple:
NOT buying it...
I'm going to buy a new computer and wait a year or so for a PS3, because I'm fed up of being last in line for everything and when it finally arrives over-seas to carry a bigger price tag then everywhere else... apparently the average wage is higher here or something... for who?!?!... business men in large jobs in the city?!?! YES, not kids wanting to play GAMES!!!!!!!

This ain't too bad. I live in a smaller town in the UK and the games are quite expensive. PSP games are around Ł29.99-Ł34.00 ($58.86 - $68.67) but the discount will be nice to have. Especially after the Christmas money loss of buying friends and family presents!

@bambam - Why not import? I believe that if these games do get their price cut then larger websites, like play.com, will bring the prices down aswell.

i love it when i read about Americans, moaning about the price of there games,

we over here in the UK, get a raw deal, the way games are priced over here is ridiculous,

a $50 (Ł25) dollar game in the US is nothing, when you compare it To paying Ł50 for a game,

on today's exchange rate that's almost $100, yet we don't get the luxury of the exchange rate when it comes to buying them

its set by greedy corporation's like EA, who set a RRP (recommended retail price) and don't take exchange rate into consideration, all they see, is that the pound is stronger, and if UK consumers want the game, they can pay double what there American counterparts pay

The exchange rate has virtually nothing to do with out prices. You can't do a straight dollarpound exchange to arrive at the "fact" RRP of most Xbox 360 games is $90...

I live in the UK and the days of "ripoff britain" are long gone, you cretins need to learn abit obout average income per year.

Its much lower in the US, wages are generally lower in the US. Its like a loaf of bread in india would cost much less in the UK. But that doesn't mean its cheaper for them cos they have lower wages....same thing with games.

The RRP may well be Ł49.99 for most games, but if you go online and have a sniff about on UK sites (not talking about imports) You can pick up virtually any 360 game for around Ł30-Ł33 with clever use of discount codes. Also many games can be had for under Ł30. Pro Evo 6 for example is Ł19.99....

End of the day its not about the price, there's nothing wrong with it, its you twits who don't know what your talking about and think we're getting ripped off.

Still your not as bad as the yanks, they take things to a whole new level....

its a simple fact that if i got my game from America (having to use Exchange rates when paying ONLINE) i would be getting it cheaper than if i went in to GAME (UK games store) and brought the PRE-OWNED one.

you sir, need to get out more!
