We got this tip from Ocean19 and he says that we better go look at the BlazeByte forums and search for this post by Obiwan22. So off to the forums we went, and what did we find? We found this video:

Much like the YouTube commenters, we were very much annoyed that the creator of the video didn't bother to turn on the lights. Regardless, the bad lighting does not damage the potential "sweetness" of obiwan22's efforts. That is, of course, if this video isn't fake, as some of the YouTube commenters claim. But we're a welcoming bunch here at QJ, so we'll give obiwan22 a much deserved Neo-esque "whoa" for the sheer awesomeness of getting some GameCube on our PSPs.

If you're one of the non-believers (believe in candy mountain!), obiwan22 did promise in his thread post that he will provide a tutorial for his project in the near future. If you want to pester him about this project of his or if you want to argue with him about the authenticity of the video above, feel free to use our Read link below - it should lead to his personal site.

Awesome work obiwan22, we applaud your efforts. Now hurry up with the tutorial, ok? Before more folks scream fake.

This will be great for the psp1.5 i created
my psp has the more power than a ps2 so gamecube should run easily on it once tut has been provided.

email me if you want to help with the project

   Re: jarvo (Unregistered) - 2007-02-08
 » yeh right

the fact theres still no n64 emulator running at full speed its highly unlikely a school kid can get game cube to work full speed. and you can clearly see he is using PMP VLC to stream the GameCube thru the PC to the PSP, just as Digi-Anime pointed out

   Re: Armada651 - 2007-02-08
» Isn't that GameCube on PSP too?

If he did stream it, theoratically, that's playing GameCube on your PSP too! :P

   Re: Squake (Unregistered) - 2007-02-08
» To You Idiots Who Don't Believe This

Look you morons, this is NOT an Emulator. It's just some guy managed to figure out how to get the GCN to act such as a Television screen on the PSP. He's just using the PSP as the television.

Similar to PSP VNC, or considered as PMP VLC I guess, it's just a different process. Notice how the word "Emulator" was not even included in this entire entry. So SHUTUP trying to prove something.

   Re: Alex (Unregistered) - 2007-02-08
 » Fake!!

He could have download a clip of someone playing smash bros and timed when to press the buttons on his controller. If you notice he pressed start and like 5 seconds later it went.

Either it's lag or he planned when to press buttons. It could've showed him going into a match and executing moves that would be more interesting!!

Just a video on his psp, the flashing led light never stopped, even at a menu screen.

 » just remember

hey guys, please dont be so easily captivated.
besides location free player or vnc/vlc, there's an even easier way to fake something. create a video of your console choice for fake emulation. record the intro of the psp, mix them 2 videos together, then video capture yourself prentending to play it when your just actually playing it on your psp video mode. and yes you should put the hold key so that pressing buttons on the psp doesnt ruin the video. and if you fake people you less than zero.

 » no srry

i think it isn't real because
- the screen fits and the gamecube can't blit in widescreen.
- it would be very schocky if it's real.
- it just can't do it because the gamecube is even more powerfull than the Playstation 2.

to the previous poster; do you have specs to prove that the GC is more powerful than the PS2, and do you have specs to prove that the GC is more powerful than the PSP?

Even if it is, which is a high possibility, dont just turn this one down, lets just anticipate this one. sometimes i think you guys are like the folks who said santa was not real.. :)

You're an idiot some random guy.
PSP clock: 333
Gamecube clock: 485
emulation is not going to happen
sorry silly goose

   Re: PSPZorZ - 2007-02-08

Your the idiot... though the GC runs at 485, most games don't require more than 333 to run fullspeed!

I have a feeling he is just using VLC for the computer and a tv capture card + PMP to relay the image from his TV to the psp...

   Re: DCJoeDog - 2007-02-07
 » Pimpstreamer anyone

That's exactly what I thought as soon as I saw this video, that he is playing gamecube and feeding it to a capture card on his PC and then with vlc is feeding that to pimpstreamer. This way he doesn't have to do any tricks to get the wavebird to play the game, he just has to be in range of the gamecube like normal
   by dragonnav - 2007-02-07
 » I am thinking..

I am thinking he is using a locationfree player, as the wifi light on the side is flashing, unless he figured out how to play thought he ps3's remote connect, which is VERY unlikly, so I am sticking with it being a locationfree player.

   Re: burningj - 2007-02-08

it looks like he is using a location free player i have one my self and i have actually played my ps3 through, there is like a 5 second delay.

   Re: Calio (Unregistered) - 2007-02-08

At the beginning of the video he shows that he is running 3.10 OE-A' This custom firmware has the location free player files pulled to make room on the flash 2.71 SE-C was the last custom firmware to include the location free player.

You can run location free on 3.10 OE-A thru DevHook and run the location free player from your memory card so it could have easily been location free

gamecube amulated... I dont think so. n64 is not even playable. so its either a video playing and a kid trying to match the keys. or its locationfree or other kind of video streaming to the psp. and like the description say... "obiwan22 did promise in his thread post that he will provide a tutorial for his project in the near future". that sound to me like its remote play. not emulation

LMAO he was just playing a game cube video.

   by firedragon_jing (Unregistered) - 2007-02-07
 » Location Free for sure

Defiantly Location Free player, simply because the network light was flashing the whole time, and an emulator where you have to lug around a Gamecube Wavebird would be pointless, there would have to be some better control integrations built in, wich would be easier than figuring out how to connect Wavebird signals to a PSP without the receiver base. Heck, I can't even figure out a way to connect my Logitech wireless PS2 to my laptop for my Playstation emulator without getting a usb adapter for the receiver base.

it would be so easy to do, i mean i could just take an xbox360 controller and use a location free player and then record it. No one would believe it just like no one believes this one.

And there is NO WAY the PSP can produce that kinda sound.

   Re: pspeter (Unregistered) - 2007-02-08

actually if you got a location free player the sound is just as good as what you got playing on it. sounds even better with a head set. but it is definitively streaming and not emulated.

   Re: PSPZorZ - 2007-02-08
 » d

Dude, you're so ignorant... your third "reason" for why it's fake is completely irrelevant. How much the PSP can HANDLE and how well the PROGRAM runs is two different things. The PSP could run GBA emulation so easily it's not even funny, it's just the gpSP emulator isn't perfect, so it's probably not ever gonna run EVERY game at fullspeed!
