Monkey IslandJoost, Thomas and Paola, after a four-month hiatus since the last release, have updated ScummVM to v0.9.0 "The OmniBrain loves you" and are near distribution for the PSP (as soon as they build the port!). ScummVM is a multi-platform program that allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games (i.e. LucasArts releases from years passed).

Changes to the latest PSP build include:

  • Reworked detection code for SCUMM games
  • Added subtitle configuration controls to the options dialog
  • Numerous bug fixes in the SCUMM engine
To the end user, the most noticeable change will be the new and improved GUI, but support for two new games (The Legend of Kyrandia and The Feeble Files) has also been added.

Please note, that you will need to already own an original copy of the game, as ScummVM just replaces the executable files from the software.

Thanks to Trackstorm for the heads up!

UPDATE: The PSP build download is now available.

The build was uploaded yesterday but it takes a while for the SF.net mirrors to sync.

This does NOT work for 2.6... It simply freezes and the PSP switches off after a while...

Bumber.

 » Damn

I was hoping to play Kyrandia on my PSP, but it looks like 2.6 gets the shaft yet again. I'll probably upgrading in a month or two for new games anyway, so it doesn't matter. If I had 1.5 I might care, but at this point, the homebrew I can run just doesn't interest me that much. Bleh.

 » Sarien

According to the main SCUMMVM site, they're planning on folding in the Sarien source code. That means those older Sierra adventure games will be playable in Scummvm.

So the classic King's Quest and Space Quest games will be supported soon? I've been dying to play through them again on PSP! Well there's always the crappy Amiga versions lol

» Still a little choppy in DOTT...

Is it possible to run this at 333Mhz with IRShell?

 » DOTT Plays Perfect

I've noticed no problems what so ever in DOTT. The game plays perfect, the colors on the PSP screen are amazing. The sound emulation is perfect as well all of the voice acting and the midi are so crisp and clear.
I played it for an hour last night and noticed no choppiness at all. Playing from a Sony 2gb memorystick.

» Probabley a lame question, but never hurts...

I thought about using this to try phantasmagoria, but figured it wouldn't seeing it's a sierra game. Anybody know if there is a homebrew out there capable of this feet.
