The latest issue of Japanese magazine Famitsu reveals that Sega is currently working on a PlayStation Portable version of the its long-running franchise Phantasy Star. The new game will be called Phantasy Star Portable and is expected to come out in Japan some time next year. |

PSO is near to nothing without the massively multi-player element. Four players via Ad-hoc is a colossal waste.
Why not just create an original single-player story? I'd buy that. I wouldn't buy a watered down MMO without the MMO.

There's already plenty of content there, and the grinding aspect of the game works perfectly with the portable genre. Gah! WHY can't they just do a simple PORT of Dreamcast v2! All they would have to do is use matchmaking over PSN and allow single player while you're offline. There's already plenty of content there, and the grinding aspect of the game works perfectly with the portable genre. First we get Phantasy Star Online being such a different step from PS, now we get PSU and THIS being SUCH A DIFFERENT STEP FROM PSO!

Blue burst only had like, what? One bug fixed?

PSU/PSO is, to me, only about the online play. I never even played the story on my 360. This is not going to make it to the states unless it has a great story or they decide to implement online multiplayer. Sorry, what a waste..

I was hoping it would have been an all new game with an original story. Perhaps a continuation of the Algol story, or at the very least an original offshoot of the PSU story.
Or...
They could just port the ALREADY-MADE remakes released for the PS2 in Japan.
