Only a few hours after Monte Cristo Games gave out exclusive details on the development of the PSP Silverfall port, here comes the development team again, giving out a few screenshots of the game. Oh, and the company has released a photo of the Monte Cristo Games developers working on the video game for Sony's PlayStation Portable. (Maybe so we'd know who exactly to look for if the we ever find the game lacking compared to its PC counterpart? LOL)
Silverfall is a hack-and-slash RPG quest-based game where players will have the option to choose from 4 different races. The character's race and class, as well as its gender, will have a bearing on the gameplay as the Nature vs. Technology-themed game progresses. It's still a long wait for the Silverfall PSP port's release (while the PC game was released back in March), so let's be patient and try to identify who the people in the photo are. That's a cool game in itself. |

It has already been settled long before that the RPG title Silverfall will be available on Sony's handheld PlayStation Portable. As you all know, this game was originally intended for the PC platform and it's still interesting how developer Monte Cristo is going to do this. Just so you know how hard it's going to be, one developer from Monte Cristo commented that one single character texture of the PC version equals the total memory of the PSP. And mind you, this is not the biggest issue here. PC units have a mouse function and needless to say, the PSP doesn't have that. The company explained, We had to change the whole system to allow for direct control, that is to say you don't click on a location to get your character there but move by yourself with the stick. You don't click on a monster to fight, you actually input the moves you want to make. Another important change Monte Cristo implemented was in the camera controls positions. According to the developers, the camera view is persistently behind the character with two different positions: the first one is a classical top down view while the second is a more third-person view. Furthermore, hurdles were also met in changing Silverfall's HUD. Just the screen size difference between the two platforms is enough to make one think if the same amount of information will be conveyed to the PSP players. Monte Cristo said that it spent a lot of time thinking about the organisation of the interface, ergonomics and the amount of data that can be displayed. In the PC version of Silverfall, players get to have companions or a party. Monte Cristo shared that the developers have to do away with it and compensate by adding more enemies on the screen instead. The title is hack-and-slash alright, but chained actions (much like in Magic: The Gathering) are also required. Silverfall still has no concrete release date as of yet but we really do hope it's soon. We believe that the developers really spent a lot of time on this title just to make it a perfect fit for us handheld users. |

Just a few hours ago, we heard about Take-Two Interactive securing the rights from Monte Cristo Games to distribute Silverfall in Europe. Taking from the game originally released for the PC, it'd be interesting how this action-RPG title would do in the Sony handheld. We're sure a lot of you guys have been clamoring for a good RPG since time immemorial though. And until Monster Hunter Freedom 2 comes out, this dungeon-crawling title scheduled for June will be more than enough to help tide over the wait. But to help tide over the wait for Silverfall itself, here are a couple of screens for the PSP version from CVG. |

For the longest time, PlayStation Portable (PSP) fans have been clamoring for a good RPG title for the handheld. Well, newly announced video game title Silverfall could be the answer to your wishes. The title first appeared on the Games for Windows (PC) format and is being tweaked to fit the PSP's hardware and features better. The video game's developer, Monte Cristo Games, just announced that it has inked a deal with publisher Take-Two Interactive. The partnership gives the publisher rights to distribute and sell the title in Europe starting June 2007. Take-Two International Managing Director James Ellingford mentioned, "We are thrilled to be working with Monte Cristo Games to bring this title to European consumers. Silverfall is another great game for the PSP system and we’re confident players will find this pure action RPG adventure highly rewarding." Silverfall is set in a fantasy world where nature and technology collide. Here, players are required to choose between the two great forces that will ultimately alter his/her destiny. Some of the game's other features include:

If you like your dungeon-crawling, magic-casting, min-maxing, and hack-and-slashing to be all done on the go, well no, you don't have to lug around your set of dice, gaming manuals and LARP-crazy friends. Instead, you can just grab a copy of the RPG Silverfall once it finally gets released for the PSP.As announced by Focus Home Interactive, Silverfall will soon be added to the PSP's repertoire of fantasy dungeon-crawlers. Developed by Monte Cristo Games, and published by Atari, Silverfall is a game that is reminiscent of good ol' D&D, or at least Diablo 2 (surely one of those falls in your generation, right?). So yes, expect to get your dose of elves, magic, and quests from this game. Originally released for the PC, the PSP version has apparently been redone in order to better suit the hardware and features of a handheld console. Another feature that will also be unique to the PSP version is the support for 2-player co-op on a Wi-Fi connection, and if you're feeling competitive, you can instead go up against 3 other players via the Arena mode. While any further details about the port (such as its release date) are yet to be revealed, we do have what seems to be the UK pack shot for the title, as taken from ToTheGame.com. However, since the game is still in development, keep in mind the the pack shot, along with other details, can still change within the next few months. |
