Sonic - Image 1Six year old Christer from Norway was tired of his name, and since he was a big fan of Sonic, he wanted to be named after his favorite video game character. In fact, he wanted it so bad that he actually wrote to King Harald V asking for permission to have his name legally changed to "Sonic X."

It all began late last year when Christer wrote a letter, not to some government office, but to King Harald V himself, asking for the legal name change. Of course, his parents were quite reluctant to send such a bizarre request. So they left the letter in the kitchen, perhaps thinking that their son will get over it eventually. But the desire didn't die down, because months later, Christer asked his parents why they still haven't sent his letter.

Perhaps thinking that the letter would wind up in the royal shredder anyway, Christer's parents decided to give in to their son and sent the letter. The King must've found the story so cute that he replied.

Unfortunately, not even the King himself could do anything about it. The request had to be denied, not because everyone else thought he'll regret it one day, but because Christer simply wasn't old enough to have his name legally changed. You'd have to be 18 for that. Poor Christer was disappointed, saying that "It was a bit bad."

As a consolation prize however, Sega is sending the six year old some Sonic X goodies to ease his woes. Awwwww.

For the love of Sonic and hedgehogs:
