Snake for firmware 2.80

Ever since Noobz's firmware 2.0-2.8 SDK was released, there's been a slow and steady trickle of homebrew games coming in for firmware 2.70- 2.80. We started with Tetris... Then TIFF Pong... Then TIFF Tron. Now, let's add another one to that list. Youresam just ported Shine's Snake game to a compatible version for 2.80 users and it makes also use of the TIFF exploit.

You guys can download the file below. Inside the .zip folder are two folders: one for the game, another containing the source code. To install and play the game, here's one way to do it:
  • copy the SNAKE folder into your memory stick under PSP/PHOTO/
  • while the photo icon is highlighted hit the TRIANGLE button
  • then launch SLIDESHOW
Seems like these homebrews (or home"ports"?) are getting better and better as we progress. Soon enough, who knows how far we can all go with our own games for 2.8 firmware? Keep it up, guys! Whether you're brewing a game or porting it, it's still progress!

 » eLOADER?

i mean, i was just wondering why you guys are making pointless games? we already know the tiff exploit works from the previous one but why not just make an eLOADER? Downgrader persay? i mean come on.. its not just me whos wondering... its all those other people too.. im just saying what they cant say.

 » Read - Noobz

@7

read the info that was released with Noobz mini SDK. (Just for you lazy people I'll example) Its not that eazy, an eloader is going to take a lot of time for 2.71-2.80 and since Noobz are so kind to use all 2.71-2.80 users get little fun too.

The SDK was released so devs can give some FREE gifts to 2.70-2.80 users. since they will have a long wait for an eloader. already 3 games released way better then nothing.

» Number 7 is right but

These little homebrew games are still cool but yes an eloader is needed...

 » typeo

since Noobz are so kind to us all, 2.71-2.80 users get a little fun too. *

PS: Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

 » Yo know..

it would be so cool if they started a devhook program for 2.8 that way we wouldnt have to make all these games ^_^

 » i have something coming...

You can expect a Mini-Game pack that will include classics such as these, among others, in a single pack for 2.8 users via the TIFF exploit, all coded from the TIFF SDK up. So far:

- Bricks (Breakout)
- Road
- Space Invaders
- The Matrix (created myself)
- Snake
- Worm
- Labyrinth
- Ogre Chase
- TextTris
- Pong

All by myself at hte time being... So far, they all run on 1.5 via an EBOOT for much faster debugging purposes. Than Ill port it over to the TIFF SDK once I find what library to use along with it (gfx.c/h, graphics.c/h, pg.c/h, all use the GU and the TIFF SDK supports the GU). If anyone is interested in testing since Devhook may prove unrealiable as to compatibility, my AIM is: sg57pimp

 » Good Job!

Sweet, I wanted this game!
Now all we need is an eLoader!

PS Any expert developers - Could you port a GBA emulator? That would be awesome! =)

There will be a menu no doubt, since having to restart your PSP just to play another one is inefficient.

 » just keep working

5 games (including pong update) in what... 4 days!
That's a lot... we 2.80 users really apreciate what everyone is doing for us, so just keep working like that, and we will have an eloader really soon.
By the way, good luck with your pack #12.

» good news for 2.8 users

well this good news for 2.8 users it shows than more hombrew can be run on this firmware i have to agree with number 4 please stop the first post thing it doesnt prove anything and besides we can already see that your first because your at the top of the list and the number one is next to it anyway 2.8 users keep your hopes up and you may see more soon and hopefully most of you that upgraded have learnt your lesson and wont upgrade anymore (except maybe for the ps1 emulator) and if you ever get to use 1.5 you will treasure it like most us 1.5 users do anyway keep up the good work on developing games for the 2.8 users

 » m too

i want galaga and some other games.. i wish i knew how to DEV ... :(

but is a GBA emulator possible through this exploit?

by Guy Blahson (Unregistered) - 2006-09-16
 » @#22

good idea, frogger would be the best. i dont know why but i find it fun. to everyone else: quit talking crap about these games just because they are old. if you were around in the 80s when these games were brand new, everyone would like to play them. sure its been 25 years but it dont change the fact that theyre fun

   by reptie7 - 2006-09-16
 » Thing
