Our friendly anonymous Japanese developers are back, and if you're guessing it's their Snes9xTYLsmcm 23/05/08 Release they bring with them, then you are right. If you happen to be new to the PSP homebrew scene, and are in the dark as to what the whole buzz is about regarding this brew, then listen up. Snes9xTYL is a homebrew emulator, originally coded by YoyoFR and Laxer3a. Today, its development continues as with projects like this from the Japanese developers. Now, people who have tried this out have said over at the DCemu forums that they have experienced increased speed in their games. Apart from this, Veskgar notes that games that used to "chug slightly" now run at a flawless 0 frameskip - this as well as vsync ON and with the PSP clocked at just 300 MHz. Sounds pretty impressive, indeed. But we won't suggest you just take their words for it. Go ahead, try it for yourself and see the difference with your own eyes. » hm....
i have never tried this emulator before, does it have better cheat functions than chilly willies?
whit shillie willies, it has terrible cheat functions, I use a cheat, and it DOES NOT work, the steat says enabled, i put in the description, and tried the game, it either crashed or didnt work at all, but on the PC, it worked just fine
does this one have game genie abiility and it so, does it work well?

» yeah
The cheat function has never worked 100% properly when I tried it in games. I made a tool to patch games so you can cheat on any emulator. All Game Genie codes will work but only some PAR codes will work because many of them are RAM codes. You can get it @ http://kodewerx.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f+11+t+3478 .

» Megaman X3...
I hope Megaman X3 works on it. That's the one game i've been wanting to play on the SNES emu, but it's just far too choppy.

» Anyone getting freezes in Secret of Mana?
I was using the previous version of Snes9xTYLsmcm and sometimes when the music changed it would freeze. Does Secret of Mana still have this problem?

» If you mean the 2 second pause after moving to another map,
that is normal. If its longer then that is lag.

» it's faster to me
I use 333 MHz and frameskip:2 and sound frequency at 22050Hz for my default settings on all games. I've noticed a huge speed up in Kirby Super Star and F-Zero. Why would anyone use 300MHz? I'd want to make sure to get as much speed as possible.
This is a great emu. I wonder when sleep-mode and netplay will be available.

that would be cool if they put back sleep mode.
and have netplay going on or Local ad-hoc (PSP and PC)

» Speed increase
Noticed an increase in overall FPS in Seiken Densetsu 3. I hope these guys keep up the good work, because SNES fanbois like me really appreciate it.

» Truthfully, it runs like *****.
I only tried games like Kirby Super Star, Super Mario RPG, and the Super Turrican games, since they ran like ***** in the SNESTYL Beta++
The new SNESTYL has the same speed that the Beta++ does, and to make things fair, it also uses the home key to bring up the menu, with the menu running much faster when scrolling around.
However, the new SNESTYL has some huge flaws. Running at anything but PSP Accelerated or PSP Acc + Approx makes it so you can't return to the menu.
So basically. While it's faster in the menu system, it's got the major flaw of being unable to return to the menu using certain preferences. I didn't try much else after I found that out and figured out it pretty much did it everytime. So yeah. Beta++ for me still. If the bug is fixed and the games are sped up, then I'll no doubt keep the next one.

» 1-2fps faster as well
I did try it on games I have to use 1-2 frameskip just now. For the most part, it actually runs about 1-2 frameskip faster. It honestly doesn't help much, especially since you'll still have to use the same amount of frameskip mainly.
Still. Because of the one flaw mentioned previously, it still doesn't make it worth keeping, even with the slightly better speed.
Also. For those of you who are excited since people are throwing out "perfect" to describe this emulator. Don't get your hopes up. The emulator is far from perfect. Games like Kirby Super Star will easily prove it.
If you've got an older version you like. I'd stick with it and wait for the next one.

You shouldn't have to change what it runs as in order to go back to the menu. Which is why it's a bug.
Besides. There's nothing that works that much better to make me want to switch over. It pretty much runs the same speed as Ruka's TYL Beta++ did. Great speed regardless which one I choose, except for the menu speed on Ruka's isn't quite as fast, but hey, who fumbles around with the menu for hours?

@ kupomogli - so dont go saying its a major flaw... it wont take you a single second just to change the software setting and return to menu

devs - please fix the menu bug. If using Approx Soft (no psp accel) hitting the home button does not load up the menu, and the PSP must be reset.
