Miemt11, the developer who has made quite some mod versions of MPH’s Firmware Launcher and other good stuffs, has spotted an interesting banner on Yoyofr’s forum:

Coming6dx_0203

He was interested and posted in the forums. Soon after that, Yoyofr replied:

“here's a status update for next release :
* some small bug fixes (gfx rendering, memory card issues, ...)
* 2 releases : one with sound mixing (not emulation, only mixing) on the media engine, requiring kernel mode, so firmware 1.0 & 1.5
one with standard mixing on main cpu, in user mode, so probably working on all firmware until 2.6 (but not sure since neocdpsp is user mode only and doesn't seem to work well on 2.0+ firmware)
* mode 7 optimizations for "not rotated" rendering (for example maps in rpg, ...).
* minor new features : delete rom in file browser, delete save state

I'm currently working on stability issues when you go to sleep mode & resume.
As soon as it's ok, I'll release it. Perhaps I'll implement a new menu using neocdpsp work from radius, I've to check with him
more to come...”

Hmm… v0.3. This is a good news. Keep it up, Yoyo, and Miemt11 too!

Will this update resolve the whole speed issues? sorry for lack of paying attention like for Pocky and Rocky 2, Chrono's Trigger and Sailor Moon Another Story. *_*;

All I can say is this is great news, considering how far this emulator has progressed an updated version with more properly working roms will definitely rekindle my interest in this emulator. :)

As Aryn said above, this is great news. The emu as of now plays many games quite well and it's one that'll never leave my memcard. I look forward to the next release!

Keep up the great work Miemt11!

Wow, Yoyofr really is an excellent dev, he was the first dev to use the PSP's GU for rendering in emulators (with spectactular results with NeoCD and SNES) and now he's the first to use the media engine in an emulator. Yet he still goes the extra mile to get a 2.0 compatible version, top marks!

I'm curious if mixing it on the media hardware would improve the quality somewhat?

I gather that even if it's just the same effect, it'll at least leave the cpu to work on rendering.

Hats off!

YESSSSSSSSSS! this is what I always hope to see day after day I visit pspudates, I agree with Johhny as well in that this emu will never leave my mem card :) Keep it up guys, maybe sometime soon all the final fantasy games for SNES and even super mario RPG will be running real smooth. Best of luck to the team.

If he gets sound running on the media engine that should speed up the emu a significant amount shouldn't it?

Too bad it's only sound mixing though. Hopefully on the next release he'll have full sound emulation with the media engine working. And also hopefully it won't take sooo long....heh.

Yayyay for YoyoFR.

I liked Y's versions of the SNES emulator better for some reason.

I think it had something to do with the fact that I had spent a lot of time collecting compatible roms fo the Y version, and I didnt feel like do int it allll over again, for the tyl version.

HOWEVER.. this is AWESOME news. SNES STILL needs work, I never really felt that it had been finished like NESTER and HUE NEOGEOCD, Stella, and the like.

GOOD LUCK MAN. seriously, I love it when people make updates like this.

MIMET11 rocks

Mario Kart and racer games sux in PSP !

   by Michael (Unregistered) - 2006-02-03

uoSNES9x 0.02pd1 is uses the media engine for sound. Speed is excellent, though when not in-game the app can be a bit unstable. Check the thread at ps2dev.org for the download link.

I gotta say I love the homebrew scene surrounding this device. You guys keep pushing the sweetest apps, can't wait for streaming video.

I would also like to start supporting the PSPDEV community and need a place to start. (Donations etc) Any suggestions?

I hope this addresses the disapperaing rom issue on v.2.0 firmawares the games run pretty decent for most part but it sucks when I play them 2-3 times then cant find them on the psp but see it when I connect to pc everything else is fine.

João Vicente
Why the hell do you waste your time posting a comment like that?
"Mario Kart and racer games sux in PSP", FIRST, plural "Mario kart and racer games" means "sux" would be SUCK. next, why the x? Do you desperately need to shorten the word that badly? This isn't AIM. Last, and not least, it sux in psp? It sucks it in? You leave incredibly unintelligent, and pointless comments, when you should focus, if you have the intelligence to do so, on the fact that a beloved piece of homebrew could be seeing a new release, one that might fix the problems in Mario Kart. If you are going to be ****ing retarted, don't come to pspupdates.

Vaga...just skip those kinds of comments. It's like what...1 bad one out of 13? No need to get so worked up about it.

   by Vagabond767 (Unregistered) - 2006-02-03

yeah, yeah, I know... just sick of it.
