According to the presentation material demonstrated on the Annual Operation Strategy Meeting, Sony has sold 6 million PSPs all around the world. And the sales in Europe were the best ever in the history of the PSP sales. |

I seriously hope this proves there IS indeed a market for a more mature, non-nintendo system.
its not necessarily a good thing europe had best sales, japan should be there biggest market, and PSP's arent doing too well in japan for some reason :(
"PSP's arent doing too well in japan for some reason :("
My guess is not enough RPGs (hey atleast they've got Popolocrois, Tales of Eternia, Gagharv... we've got jack). Hopefully a problem that will be migitated in short time.
I'm not surprised about the success. Even some of my non-gamer friends want one, after seeing mine play music, videos and Megadrive games.
I hope Sony find out Europe is a market for Playstation.. because europe is always last with new stuf :| compare to JAP en US
so they should sell there PS3 in europe first this time around.. :P
ROFL @ ANON 2:29 THAT WAS MY QUOTE!!!!
ok, 6mil X 200 dollars = ???? anybody?
1,200,000,000!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn, but subtract the cost of makin them and to distibute and blah blah, and then you get the profit, but somthing tells me its a **** load....
well yeah.. a **** load of $ indeed! i bet the v2.0 update made some people decide against getting a psp though (haha sony), cuz a lot of ppl are getting PSPs just for portable homebrew
2.0 definitely puts people off buying imo. Not only that but Sony really are dumb, cos they made it impossible for version 1.5 owners to buy legit games cos we don't wanna update. So it's just encouraging piracy and hurting their games sales. Also, i think if you look at consoles, piracy is a good thing. Which 2 consoles have suceeded and which has failed? The pirate-able PS2 and Xbox have sold very well...The much harder to pirate Gamecube only sold well in japan.
"Not only that but Sony really are dumb..."
....sorry, just had to point out the irony in that.
@ Greendude...
How do you work that one out?
How is it impossible for us 1.50 owners not to buy legit games?, I have a few games that require FW 1.52 to play and all I need to do is run the WAB version changer.
Get your facts stright dude.
"its not necessarily a good thing europe had best sales, japan should be there biggest market"
Japan has never been Sony's biggest market for any of their consoles. Both the PlayStation and the PS2 sold best in North America, and second-best in Europe, and last in Japan.

That's completely retarded logic. Please RE-READ the part about Europe having massive sales. This is well after the world was made aware of 2.0.

Are you kidding me, sony get a clue?!? sony are as dense as they come - bloody propriatary formats, brings a tear of joy to my eye when i see their financials doing as badly as they are.
If they'd only embrace open standards. not this ATrack, and MS Duo crap, Blueray etc etc etc... sony wakeup or go away. that said, psp rocks...
now if only i had a 1.50, then we'd be talking
I am curious to know if this number is sold to retailers or actual consumer purchases? I might have over looked it, did anyone notice?
i want to see the numbers of returned psp's
Mother ****ers charge us Brits more for the same stuff, yet we still buy it coz we're 'teh win'
This is almost for sure shipped, not sold. PSPUpdates made this stupid mistake when 5 million units were shipped as well.
