Memory Stick Entertainment PackSony has announced its new Memory Stick Entertainment Packs. (We told you about the previous batch here.) These contain either 1GB or 2GB Memory sticks bundled with an installer DVD. This is (obviously) a collaboration between Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Sony Electronics.

Aside from being able to use the Memory Sticks in devices such as Sony's digital cameras, camcorders and some Sony Ericsson phones, you can also use these to watch movies in your PSP.

The Packs come with installer DVDs for PCs which contain four Sony movies, one of which you can access with the complimentary unlock code, and then transfer to your PSP's Memory Stick media.

The movies included in the Memory Stick Entertainment Pack are "S.W.A.T.," XXX: State of the Union," "The Grudge" and "Hitch."

The 2GB and 1GB Memory Stick Entertainment Packs will become available next month and will cost $100 and $60 respectively.

 » How does this work???

Are all 4 movies on the dvd and it only allows you to unlock 1 or do get access to all of them or is only 1 movie on the dvd and you have to buy whatever package you want for the movie? This is very confusing >_

 » no....

@4>>>its ONE movie (read) and a 2GB MS for 100, not worth it since im getting a 2GB MS for $55, which would make the movie about $45...and that would be alot, excpecially since most people I know dl their media. Yea its illegal, no I don't care.

» READ THIS!!! SANDISK 12 GB Memory Stick!!!

On a japanese site i translated, it had some news about a 12GB memory stick coming for the release of spring 2007 in sync with the PS1 emulator to alow for more data. No, im not telling qj what the website is, but i did copy the image and upload it. Here are quotes from the anoynimous japanese website.

"12 gigbyte sandisk brand memory stick to be released around 春分の日."

NOTE: the translator i used did not translate the japanese symbol shown. Further investigation into the symbol showed that is was a japanese holiday around spring. I tried sending this to qj net thing however, for some reason after two attempts, did not go through. More quotes,

"This high capacity storage device is being released as an alternative to holding your ps1 iso's, well, that is at least the intention of sandisk. The predicted price is 39,800 yen."

Does anyone know how much that is in american or uk money??? It sounds liike alot. Hopefully qj will read this and post this. Lastly, you can check out this cool products picture here.

Once again i say I AM NOT POSTING THE SITE TILL I GET PROPER CREDIT FOR FINDING THIS.

 » 12GB memory stick

I don't think that the file system on the PSP can support anything over 4GB.
Does anyone know if this is a firmware limitation that may change in newer (or custom) firmwares???

   by xsouthpole - 2006-07-12
 » to number 12

this comes out in japan in spring 2007, so by then the ps1 emulator firmware would have been released, so, it could lenthen the limitations to 12GB

 » to 12.

Actually PSP will handle memory sticks up to 32GB if they ever make them that big.

 » Exchange rate

39,000 yen is about $345 US dollars (more than the PSP). That's way to much money to spend on a memory card.

I thought that the PSP uses the fat16 file system.
Is this correct?

   by mnky - 2006-07-13
 » fhjd

It does use fat16, but they could update the file system in a f/w update.
