Blu-ray Discs - Image 1If you could remember from way back CES 2008, the PSP Portable Copy feature allows Blu-ray movie downloads from the Playstation 3 to the PSP. While this perk may not arrive yet with the upcoming PS3 firmware 2.2, we may still have room for hope that the wait won't be that long.

Sony has given Kotaku an estimate of  "later this year" for the release of PSP Portable Copy. That is a general assessment, however, since Sony also confirms that there are no specific timetables for the feature as of yet.

Citing sources from Sony Pictures, Sony says the technology is still under development. Therefore, the need for a PS3 firmware update to access the feature is still up in the air.

But late 2008 is not that far away if you think about it. The technology may just need finishing touches from this point on. Uncertain as that may be, rest assured that we will keep reporting the latest developments from the Sony front. Keep checking back here at QJ.NET.
