Sony's Greek party for God of War II (pic edited) - Image 1

British middle-market newspaper The Daily Mail reports that Sony is receiving criticism for a promo stunt gone bad. According to the newspaper, the electronics giant used a "freshly slaughtered goat" as the centerpiece of a party to promote the PS2 title God of War II. The stunt has sparked the ire of critics and animal rights organizations.

Images from the party in question, which was held last month in Athens, reportedly appeared in Sony's official PlayStation magazine, but according to the Mail, Sony issued "an apology for the gruesome stunt and promised to recall the entire print run." The magazine was due to hit newsstands on Tuesday. According to the Mail, however, subscribers have already gotten their copies.

A spokesman from Sony said that the animal had not been slaughtered for the event but had been bought from a local butcher by the Greek company hired to stage the event. Sony is currently conducting an internal inquiry into "aspects of the event in order to learn from the occurrence and put into place measures to ensure that this does not happen again."

To realize that you shouldn't have a real dead animal for a shoot? You think that would be something you wouldn't have to learn from...

You're blocking out the animal... now you're blocking up a body painted that can show barely a nipple? I bet that I could show you 20 magazines (not porn) that have printer ads with women painted...

Understand blocking out violence and gore for the children... that is a horrible thing.
The human body just isn't.

Who cares if you have a dead goat at a party. I cant stand when people complain about 1 goat getting killed if you have that much time on your hands go bother everyone who has hit a squirle while driving of people who eat meat.

On the way to work, I took a rabbits head clean off. On warm days I kill hundreds........ of bees that is that fly in front of my car. Sometimes I even run over snakes. I was lucky that a huge owl I hit didn't shatter my windshield. It smacked hard into the roof of my car.

Sony would never use nudity to sell their products, so they insist in having an ALMOST nude woman holding two green dild0s, next to some guy getting it off to a dead goat. (trust me, ive seen the unedited pic)

You are not serious, are you? You can see there's an animal on the table. Aren't you mad they didn't blur it's legs or body. Ever seen roadkill, or do you stop and clean it all up.

Instead of promoting a great game that really needs no promotion they do a stunt like this.

Also, what kind of butcher sells goat meat?

The topless chicks would be fine and still in great taste.

I don't care wether it was killed for this purpose or not... real life slaughter and videogames should stay separate.

OMFG welcome to the real world. Animals get killed all the time, not only by us but by their natural predators. GET OVER IT!!!! NO ONE SAYS YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT IT!!! Its a goat not an endangered species. It really pisses me off that we have people and organizations in this world that think they need to regulate to morality of the rest.

Hundreds of children starved to death in Third World countries today.

+While some D-bag bought her fluffy an overpriced sweater and matching scarf

+While "Tinkerbell" got treated to a more respectable lifestyle then most decorated war veterans will ever see

+And PETA worried about cruelty to animals whose sole purpose is to become food

+And activist in Greece hounded SONY about a publicity stunt that happened for one day

Yeah humans are animals when you strip them to the bare bones but c'mon people when did Fluffy become more important on the food chain then our fellow dreamers, patriots and children? (i.e. our future)

Re: excuse me? (Unregistered) - 2007-04-29
 » ok

No one is saying fluffy is more important you are way off the mark. If you are so concerned why are you posting on a PS3 blog? Quite frankly PETA are a bunch of loonies. There was one guy standing outside a school handing out leaflets about how milking cows was harming the cows?! He was in a full size cow costume. Thankfully the pupils kicked the $:it out of him ;)
