Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron - Col Serra evolution - Image 1

Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron lead designer Mike Rosser just posted an interesting article over at the official Star Wars website regarding the PSP title's story narrator Col Serra. For those of you who are not familiar with this character, Col Serra is an old friend of Han Solo during his smuggling days.

Col Serra has very few appearances in the series making it almost totally up to Rebellion Developments to come up with the character's look. Rosser shared that they immediately knew what was the character like - gruff, battle-weary yet ultimately noble.

Despite that, however, Mike Rosser and the rest of the design team had to create various iterations for Col Serra. Mike Rosser provided these explanations in relation to the image above:
  • The first character design, on the left, was rejected because it was felt that the Blade Runner influences were too obvious, and because some people felt it would be easier to relate to a human rather than a Zabrak.
  • The second design was a bit too effeminate and too pirate-like.
  • The third one was too stuffy and formal.
  • The fourth one, however, nailed the character - everyone was happy with this design, and this how Col Serra appears in the final game.
Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron will hit retail stores on October 12.
