Ooh. Want a shiny new prx to pimp your PSP with? Here's another useful little powerhouse: NoUMD Plugin. What it does is that it allows you to store a UMD in your PSP's disc tray without having to load it on start up. Yeah, this should come in handy for those who a) still want to keep a disc in their tray for whatever purposes and are b) annoyed with that whirring sound. Whirr whirrrr whirrrrrrr... Though originally requested by SGT4EVA, the plugin actually was made by Red Squirrel himself. As SGT4EVA states, this plugin does not harm your disc or the system. It's just going to show the tray as empty. As with other plugins, installation for NoUMD is the same. Download: NoUMD Plugin Visit: QJ.NET PSP development forums Related articles:

» Hmmm
Could be useful for older firmwares, but no point for those that can already disable UMD autoboot.

» Exactly. Its useless
Excactly.
This is useless as the PSP already has this option.
System Settings/UMD Auto Start - On/Off
I've been using that option since it was included in OFW... I think it was firmware 2.00
How about making a plugin that turns the PSP off after a set amount of time?
OR what about a plugin that auto starts the UMD.....

Well if you put the UMD in backwards like in the picture above you won't get the whirring sound either just a *crunch* sound LOL I can't be the only one who noticed that

You could just not leave the UMD in the PSP.

» Yeah, a valid argument...
but to quote the SGT4EVA from the forums, he requested this plugin: "because i was tired of hearing my UMD Spin, but i wanted my UMD to be in my PSP for storage and also when i wanted to play my game."
There are always valid reasons why you'd want a UMD on your disc tray. For a time, I kept my Family Guy UMD in the tray for weeks! LOL

Good job, SGT4EVA. Well, to give proper credit, gj, RedSquirrel. Hehehe! But yeah, thanks for releasing this too, SGT4EVA. Besides, it was *your* original idea. As you said, it was just RedSquirrel who just implemented it into code. So, for that, you also get kudos for proposing the idea to RedSquirrel. ^_^

great for instances when you shouldn't be playing PSP (like at work) but with the volume at zero and no disc spinning its perfectly silent (unless your x button is loud like mine) no one has caught me playing yet and with this, no one ever will! Mwa ha ha ha!!! Thanks!!

» Future version suggestion
Next version do you think you can make an auto boot button so it will disable the prx. For example, I want to play my UMD but I still want the prx enable so I hold down lets say the select button and it will disable the prx at boot up? Does this make sense?

» What a great plugin
This is great. I have UMD iso movies in my 16GB MS and I hate it when it the disc spins every time I reboot. I have my PSP encased in a Logictec protective case, and the only way to view a UMD iso is by having a UMD disc inside. I don't want to be reminded that I have a disc nor do I want to remove it because its a drag removing the PSP from the case. With this plugin, now I can activate the disc whenever I want to watch a movie.
