Success! 0okm Accesses Nand Flash on Firmware 2.80

Good times! Yes you heard right! 0okm reports that he has successfully accessed the NAND Flash memory on Firmware 2.80 PSP's. This would leave PSP Gamers running 2.80 with a big question... Will there be a 2.80 downgrader? Well to quote 0okm, a "DG for FW2.80 is easy" thanks to Team C+D's kernel mode exploit.

Accessing the flash, now what does that mean for me? Well, not much... just yet anyways. For developers however, the ability to properly access the PSP's hardware on this level is the required base for developments such as a downgrader, and possibly a new custom firmware with handy modules.

It's been quite an exciting time here recently for our PSP fans. We've seen some incredible breakthroughs that were strongly debunked previously; emulating Sony's new barrage of Firmware Updates (right out of the box), new custom firmware such as Dark Alex's 3.02 OE-A, and the latest version of Devhook. From the looks of things, it would appear most current PSP Gamers will be sitting pretty for the holidays. While the awesome PSP Dev community gets another Xmas present which could be the first hack welcoming in the new "post-Xmas" PSP gamers.

ookm's full of *****, he's never produced the goods. what's he said here except for a few words with no proof to back it up.

he never made a ta-082 downgrader, he just said he did and then said that he called it off because of 'e-mail hackers' - we've no proof he ever had the downgrader to begin with!

if he makes a downgrader for 2.80 i'll eat my words but until then he's done ***** all.

Totally different crap, 0okm is talking about NAND flash access and how a downgrader is not far away. They on the other hand have a program that dumps your flash files. Different things. I thought you were smarter than that, 0okm is a reliable source(sometimes I wonder if he works for Sony lol).

Yeah I truely do wish they could fully access the TA-082 and figure out a way to either downgrade or fully hack it somehow. I'm being patient though. And lucky for me I also have a 2nd PSP that is 1.5. Wish I could help somehow with development, but I'd need some teaching help and extra time. Maybe one day.

as far as i know it wont work on 3.03 simply because its using the 2.80 kernal access hack, which will not work on anything higher that 2.80

I think I read somewhere on this site that the kernel acces hack also works on 2.8+ and 3.0+(not 3.03 ,sorry), but all they need is just a exploit(like the libtiff one)to start up the hack...

We've come a long way, when we thought fw2.71 was uncrackable. Is it true that Sony hasn't patched this issue, even in their latest firmware (3.03 atm, probs 3.05 by tommorrow ;P)

Anyway, hope to see a downgrader soon, I hate myself for upgrading... I only did upgrade to play Loco Roco... damn addictive game. Anyone do the same?

This doesn't let you update to 3.02, this opens the ability to right to flash, allowing for a downgrader, or the possibility of just using kernel space homebrew.

so ive been hearing sony hasnt changed anything significant from 2.8 up. Does these mean a 3.0 downgrader isn't far behind the 2.8 one? or does it mean im stuck with 3.0 for awhile?

2.00-2.80 uses tiff mode but from 2.81 and up sony has blocked that so we hav to find a hack to lanuch unsigned code wen that happens u will have to get kernal access and yes u are gonna b stuck wit 3.00 for a while jus stick wit it though and dont ugrade ANYMORE !!!!!!!!!

from what i can see the exploit to get into the flash has to be loaded from the 2.80 eloader, so while its possible the exploit still exists in 2.81+ theres no way to actually use it without some form of homebrew loader first. so yeah, a 3.0 downgrader might be possible from this but not until someone else manages to run an eloader on it.

actually they did change something significent which is that there is no tiff. kernal and usermode is available for 3.0 but there has to be a way to launch it which there is none now.
