As part of our Summer Coding Competition, Youresam has released an impressive Lua game entitled - Wedge Racer. Wedge Racer is a 3-D racing game coded purely in Lua, a very impressive feat as it has never been done in Lua before! In the game, you play as a wedge racer (car) and must defeat the computer on a racing track. This game is no easy game, I was unable to beat the computer on the first track when I tried, but I then came back a second try with my brand new red ferrari and beat him!

Wedge Racer features both single player and online modes so that you can always get your game on, no matter where you are! To make the experience even more fulfilling, Youresam has included a level editor that allows you to create and play your very own custom-made maps. So, I went ahead and made my very own map. Although, that turned out to be a complete failure as you can see by the below screenshot!

All of the entries for this competition have been released and a post detailing the voting procedure will be up soon. Good luck in the competition and a great job on the game!

 » Tip.

Please don't worship every homebrew program created. And these Summer Coding Competition apps should be placed in one article :(

Your always scripting somthing groundbreaking made with luaplayer. Thx for all your hard work, and keep pushing the limits of luaplayer.

Good luck on the comp.

i bet these people downing a game for this reason or that couldnt code a single line yet they still think they have a right to diss someone elses hard work... want graphics? buy a umd... sony spends almost a year on each one so it looks all pretty and some are still buggy and crash... if you can make a race game that doesnt crash your on the right track --- keep it up guys

 » Really good game

This is one of the best homebrew games i have ever seen, along with online play and 3d capability. Wedge racer is wicked! Nice work Youresam!

 » Right...

Netplays OK, but it could be imporved....

Needs better gfx definitely.

To be honest, i think its pointless doing 3D in lua, its too limited

 » Great game

Awesome, I like the crating mode but it should have difficult settings (the CPU gave me a whoopass)

and it should have floor

I really look fowart to see more updates of this very cool game!

 » Yay!

Great Job Youresam :)
It gets my thumbs up, and my vote ;)

If the track was elevated it could pass as a clone of
Stunt Car Racer (Amiga).

Again, top work, I rarely find time to play homebrew games.
Cheers, Art.

» This is a good game

This is a pretty good game. It's too bad I'm the only one that can play it, because I'm the real Sam.

   by gf (Unregistered) - 2006-09-03

Good work, but its extremly glitchy. I can actually get out of the court and fly in nowhere or the walls just dissapear. Good for the first version though.
