From 1up: “Today Symantec Security Response experts identified the first Trojan that targets Sony Playstation Portable systems, Trojan.PSPBrick, as a Category 1 threat (Category 5 being the worst). As of today, there are no confirmed infections, and we'd like to keep it that way!

The ‘virus’ that is being referred to is the PSP Team Patcher which will erase certain files from your flash memory on your PSP, rendering it useless. Keep in mind that there is a program to scan your eboot.pbp’s by Dark Killer called PSafeP (see post below hehe) and to only download from trusted sites who test the files before releasing them to the public.

Thanks for the news Soccrmastr =)

"i think yoshis trying to get bak at us for are rude comments" no yoshi came out with the downgrader some person prolly decided it would be fun to spread a virus. if it was me I would be sitting at my desk laughing (no offense to anyone who bricked their psp's my heart goes out to u)

there's lots of files that ppl use eryday (like most of the older loaders and the first downgrader that write to flash that have the potential to brick yer PSP. I guess this one just does it better than the others. maybe thats why its just a 1 cause it might just be someones bad code not intentional.

I don't exactly thing someone accidentally made a code that deleted 4 essential files from the flash....

Why do asshooes have to make us worry about every file out there by mamking this ****?

Restoring your flash data should be a very easy process for Sony, but I wonder how much they will charge owners of bricked PSP's to do this? My guess is no parts, 1 hour labour... $400... :)

Thankfully it is very difficult (make that almost impossible) for any virus to permanently damage electronic hardware.

If the virus made the PC overclock then yeah

Stop being paranoid
Sony probally don't make these trojans/viruses. I would scare people, "oh I just wanted to buy the PSP so I could play homebrew, but now i'll get a virus"

It's just some guy who has never seen a girl, and sits on his PC all day, looks at porn and programs things as he has no friends, and needs to escape his life of being a loser.

All they want you to do is panic about this ****, here's a thing, why the hell don't you all backup ALL your files for your PSP BEFORE installing this type of ****?

Get over it!

how can it be worse? try a virus activating the wireless modem on your PSP, broadcasting itself to other PSP's in the vincinity, while it deletes file after file while you're listening to music. Trust me, it can be worse.
