Fans of the Syphon Filter series are without a doubt looking forwards to Sony's newest Gabe Logan epic, Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow. This follow-up to Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror revolves around Gabe's partner Lian Xing. Picking up shortly after the events in Dark Mirror, Logan's Shadow starts with Lian going missing and accused of being a double agent.
The various goggles and weaponry from the first title are once again making an appearance in this title. Gabe has apparently learned a few new tricks though, such as the ability to blind fire around obstacles and corners. Other characters from the franchise's history can also be commanded to provide backup for Gabe. Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow is slated for a Winter release. In the interim, here are a bunch of screenshots from the game. More screenshots after the jump! |

Sony Computer Entertainment America, in conjunction with the second anniversary of the PlayStation Portable and the official North America price drop, also announced in an official press release that Daxter and Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror are now added to the PSP "Greatest Hits" collection. Ready At Dawn's Daxter was a phenomenal hit with the PSP gaming community, and R.A.D is interested in bringing their God of War franchise to the handheld with an even bigger bang. Didier Malenfant, President of Ready At Dawn Studios, said: Ready At Dawn couldn’t be more pleased with our success bringing Daxter to the PSP platform last year, and now we have another opportunity to blow away expectations of what a developer can accomplish on a portable when Kratos hits the ‘small screen’ in God of War. PSP is an ideal platform for us to work on because we have a high level of freedom to be creative, and we can deliver gameplay experiences that rival ones you'd get from a computer entertainment system. With the addition of Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror and Daxter to the Greatest Hits collection, the titles will now be available in a value-filled price tag of US$ 19.99 each. The "Greatest Hits" program by SCEA will help generate strong consumer interest and drive PSP software sales, as well as the hope of revitalizing demand for the Sony PSP. |

Here's some good news for all the PSP owners out there. According to IGN, new demos, including ones for Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror and SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2 will be made available for download through the official PSP site or the PlayStation website in the coming weeks. More demos from both first-party and third-party developers are also in the offing, so watch out for those. The Killzone: Liberation demo is there now so if you're looking for something to try you might want to consider getting that one. You can also download firmware 3.10, which is also available now, but if you're a homebrew fan we don't know why you'd want to do that. Just so you know, though, the latest firmware update from Sony contains a new Dynamic Normalizer feature which automatically adjusts sound settings. |

With the release of Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, the PSP finally gets the definitive game by which all other PSP titles will be judged. The video game is expected to do what Tomb Raider did for PS, Grand Theft Auto III for PS2 and Halo for Xbox. The game is a welcome relief for PSP owners looking for breakthrough titles. Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror maximizes the system's muscle with its detailed graphics, precise controls and playability.
As one reviewer said, “If you have a PSP and like the action-espionage genre of games, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror shows what the little system can do. At some points, you'll even forget you're playing on a pocket-sized PSP since the game delivers nearly a PS2 level experience.” The game features Gabe Logan, a member of a special military force that takes on super sensitive military missions. How sensitive? So sensitive the government burned his birth certificate and fakes amnesia when asked about his covert assignments. Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror is packed with “explosive real-world action adventures” that stretches from Finland to Bosnia, Alaska to Peru. Gabe’s objective: recover the elusive Project Dark Mirror. Well, the review scores for the upcoming PSP title, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror are already starting to pour in. What are people saying? Well, lets just say it is doing very well in the review circle. Check out the scores it has been receiving:
Gabe Logan is a highly-trained Precision Strike Operative, commanding a black box U.S. Agency that, legally, doesn't exist. Using Precision Strike Tactics, advanced vision technology, and the latest in high-tech weaponry, Logan's specialty is covert operations requiring deadly force. Logan and his team perform "surgical strikes": missions too sensitive for a military response, too dangerous for civilian intelligence forces. Logan's job is to infiltrate, recon and execute decisively. Once inserted, Logan is his own authority. |
