Great, great news from the land of homebrew. A hacker going by the name BrokenCodes has claimed to have found a way
to hack the TA-088v3 motherboard's pre-IPL encryption. Now, why is this important? Basically, as Dark AleX explains it, once hackers are able to crack this protection, the security on TA-088v3 PSPs will "go down TOTALLY". You can read about it here. Anyway, BrokenCodes' code is still incomplete, but based on Dark AleX's reaction to his posts, we could be looking at a huge leap forward in hacking the TA-0883v3 motherboard. Kudos to Wololo for this great find! Related articles: |

I really hope this is legit. Then I can get a PSP 3000! Assuming it uses the same pre-IPL. It probably does though.

Charge them 10 bucks for using you're battery to do so. I only charge free for my closest friends but not other people that I just talk to and not hang out. It's time consuming. You could be using that 10-20 minutes to play games lol.

If it takes you 10-20 minutes to mod someone's PSP, you've got a problem.

If someone wants me to hack their PSP at school, I do it for free. Usually people buy me a coffee or something though.
It only takes like 2-5 minutes depending on if the PSP is a Slim or a Fat. (I have a Slim so I can't use my battery with Fat PSPs so I have to convert their battery into a Pandora ;-) )

This is all good to know... Just incase my current 2000 model breaks or something.
Just wish Sony would let us play homebrew without hacking. By all means crack down on pirating UMDs I've got nothing against that. Though I suppose there are license issues.
And if we want to shrink our battery life down then let us! Give us the 100% screen brightness away from a power source and let us switch between CPU speeds!
Also DivX and WMV support. Hell you're part of the DivX consortium right? (My sony DVR can play DivX files).
Meh. Odd place for it but thems my thoughts.

a PSP-3000. I'm telling all my friends that don't have a PSP to get theirs now before Sony makes another unhackable version again, but they won't listen and say that they are gonna wait till it's hacked(dumb asses I swear). I'm gonna get one and sell it to them for a higher price because their dumb.

this is the IPL for the psp 2000 ta-088v3 units that this article is about. the psp 3000's motherboard is the ta-090 which still has yet to have any breakthroughs towards the hacking of the new psp's but after this news it shouldnt be much longer until something is figured out towards the hacking of the new psp 3000's but for now this is huge news for the people who have the 2000's ta-088v3 motherboards. DAX always pulls through after a little time. Keep up the great work DAX and Brokencodes!!

The 3000 probably uses the same IPL hash check as the 88 v3. So it should be hackable using the Datel battery.

Well finally, good job guys!
I've been wanting to buy the new model, but since I use the good old fat so much just to play retro-games like Donkey Kong Country or Crash Team Racing, I've had some doubts if the brand new 3000 is any good for me.
Now that I know it'll be soon hacked as well, I'll be keepin mah eyes on dax.org :D
