Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation portable consoles - Image 1

Here are the highlights from Sony's recently-concluded TGS 2008 conference. The big news here are the launch dates for some of Sony's new services as well as the new 80GB PS3 bundles.

First up is the PlayStation Store for PSP, which is all set to launch next week, October 15. This may only be for Japan at the time being, though, but we'll keep an eye on it.

Sony also revealed "Ad Hoc Party", the official name for their upcoming PS3/PSP service, which will launch on October 30. The first game to include this feature will be Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G.

There's also some stuff for the PS3 owners. The eagerly-awaited PlayStation Home will start its open beta before the year ends, while the new 80GB PS3 bundles that come with a DualShock 3 controller will hit stores on October 30 in Japan.

It's a service that will use the PS3 to allow Ad-Hoc multi-player PSP games to be played online. Basically it's similar to Xlink-Kai.

 » ad hoc party

may be kinda like how you can play Lair with the psp but with games that support multiplayer so think monster hunter with up to about 7 or 8 psp gamers hacking away in one game.

 » Ad-Hoc party

It is playing Ad-Hoc only games on the psp over the internet through the ps3. It is not remote play.
