What we have here for you are a handful of screenshots and three new gameplay videos for the PlayStation Portable version of Space Invaders Extreme (also on Nintendo DS). Developed and published by Taito, this is expected to be released in North America this coming June.

Given its title, it is needless to explain that this game is a revamped incarnation of the classic arcade game Space Invaders which first appeared back in 1978. Despite the improvements, Taito has decided to stick with the game's original aesthetic design.

But for those who are thinking that this is just a port of an old arcade game, well, you are quite wrong. Aside from the many weapons added to your cache, the enemies were also improved with their attacks varying from one enemy type to another.

Aside from that, there's also some multiplayer aspects incorporated into Space Invaders Extreme. Sony PSP players, however, are only allowed to enjoy competitive gameplay locally.
