An iPod on the PSP? We're kind of iffy about posting this video from youresam called iPodMock, we didn't spot iPodMock introductions nor descriptions of the notable Netlib developer in our forums. But coming from one of the 'brewers, the video may just spark your light bulb and inspire you to tweak your PSP again. Youresam didn't provide exact instructions on how to install the interface he created in this video but he did show that it's practically possible to transform your PSP into an iPod, so to speak.

Youresam uses the analog button to navigate from the menus to the main interface to select play, pause, or any option. He also shows the Status, Clock, Now Playing, and Battery bar on the top of the PSP screen. The video is actually an update of the last one he made a little while ago, but go check out the latest here.

start banning the #1,#2 spammers, it's childish and annoying.

on topic, this looks really cool, seems as though it needs some performance tweaks and etc but i'd like to see more on it, any links?

 » Cred!

Ill gave the video some cred as reaql. IF you look hard, the memstick light is accessing date. If this is a ipod system clone, in the sence of the interfacee, it would rock as a music player. But i am still in love with PSP Radio.

I think cause it's a sensitivity issue. like you can't control how fast you want it to scroll. I acttually rather like the..."rolling" idea, verry unique!

Yikes! Learn to use a better shot with your camera.

From what I can see of the interface, it looks decent!

 » ok, thats creative

I gotta admit.. pretty creative. Not really intuitive for the psp like the Ipod though. I don't think there really is a need for a release. Also, if you couldn't tell, the program isn't optomized enough yet for general release (mp3 skips, etc.)

That's your fault isn't it. Cause it's unlikely this will work on 2.81 either.

"Youresam didn't provide exact instructions on how to install the interface he created in this video"

if i'm not mistaken, at the very beginning of the video it looks like he selects this iPod thing in luaplayer.
now i'm no coder, but i don't think instructions are really required to drop a folder in "applications" of luaplayer.

Absolutely awesome, i would die if i didnt have a release, its really awesome. A must-release.

by Luis Branco (Unregistered) - 2006-10-19
 » Not so bad

I personally do not use the PSP for mp3 playback (i have the ipod for that), however i do find this software an interesting concept, but i think that much more can be done to make it better than the current iPod software, and currently his version is suffering from some performance problems, you can check when he is changing from the menu to the now playing that the PSP hicks up.
But still a nice pice of work.

A blurry video of a Lua program that mimics the ipod interface (people call that innovative and creative?) and that will never be released by an author that is banned in the forums? wtf?

thats really cool. I hope he realeases it very soon. I would deffently download it. Ive been waitng for someone to make a ipod thing for psp

   by purpleshadow (Unregistered) - 2006-10-19
 » Okaaaaay...

Why would I NEED this??!
Why go through thhe hassle of:
booting the psp, scrolling to game, selecting LUA player, wait for it to load, load the ipod-like interface program just to listen to music? I listen to mp3's... I dont watch them!

If you want to listen to MP3's follow these steps:
turn on psp>scroll to music>select song

See? No complications!

   Re: Feedbacker (Unregistered) - 2006-10-19
 » Nice Reminder

Hmm... it's the old question again: Why? Because he CAN!

Well, yes sure you can use the built-in functionality to listen to mp3s. But isn't it a great thing that someone (youresam in this case) CAN use another piece of softw... ummm.. homebrew to play tunes the way he likes?

my phone's a red one. how 'bout yours? a grey one? see? does the same but looks different :)

stay tuned!
   by youresam (Unregistered) - 2006-10-19
 » umm

I cant believe QJ put this up...but ok...

heres whats up.
the analog nub scrolls, but you can also use the DPAD.
I optimized it like crazy so the MP3 doesnt skip, however, it does skip for a split second when selecting another menu

And for those of you who actually want it, you can thank all the b*stards that come in here and just put down my programs

i don't think you are the real youresam because like 99% homebrew coders are registered. so umm, stop acting like him

» I have to agree with most

its ok, it's not as big a deal as his netlib or his 3d racer. It sucks he got banned (I don't even know over what) he is and was a great lua dev (even if his last game was lame).

More devs leaving because of what people say (such bs grow up, other BIGGER devs have goten way more flame then you ever will). I say keep working with lua and stay out of the forums if you can't take it.

Since he won't release it I dont see why we care, most any dev can make somthing like this, it looks very easy and ya I use PSP radio (or xmb) so I see no point.

Sweet...but peeps need to recognize the macro button their camera to record close objects..dang that hurt my eyes LOL

   by youresam (Unregistered) - 2006-10-19
 » @PSPUser

Yes, I know other devs have gotten worse flames, but I dont really care about that matter. It seems that most of the flames are from the idiots that come on the frontpage expecting big things. Most forum users actually understand the work it takes to create a program. Now, Im not saying I put a lot of work into this (actually...it only took a weekend to make lol), but I just wanted something that I made for myself. I did not expect this to be frontpaged.

"And for those of you who actually want it, you can thank all the b*stards that come in here and just put down my programs"

I only thought it was not getting released because of the flames (mostly from that quote). I see and understand much more now, sorry.

PS: Thx for all your great work. I may not use everything, but the ones I do I love.

 » O come on!

Hey your right, you made it for you mainly, but do the right thing and release it to others who do want it. If some people don't, it is there problem!

» I'd use this over the PSP music player.

This looks insanely cool, and would be a slap in the face for all the "ipod owns the psp" people out there. If only this play MP4 video like the psp movie player, then it would just totally own every ipod user out there. Very very cool homebrew and deserves a release, all those haters out there would probably use it and like it too haha. Good work!

   by WACOMalt (Unregistered) - 2006-10-19
» personally I think its cool.

Granted IT hink it would be better as an eboot rather than a LUa program. aaand of course if you could replace the PSP music menu with this one, aaand of course if the performance is GREATLY increased, aaannnddd if it plays video...

long ways off, but I would love this program in its final release (if a release happens at all)

but yes, going to boot up the lua player, then booting the application THEN loading the mp3's which would skip... seems kinda worthless...

Is it just me or... Did I think of this first? Even so, this looks pretty cool, even if some ideas where piggy backed ;)
