you know what would make this show actually interesting? if they had interviews with people that we actually give a damn about, like the homebrew developers listed all over this site. from dax to n00bz to the cronos team . not some jerkoff named steve lycett.
Hi there Jamison,
I'm sorry if the interview bored you, I did try to not just talk about Toca, but you know, when the interview is all about talking about a game you've just spent a serious proportion of your life on, well, you have to talk about it. Maybe you don't care about what we've done with the game, and well that's your opinion, you're welcome to it!
I respect the homebrew scene a lot, even with all the documentation, we still have fun doing games on PSP, so I can only imagine what it's like to work on the system blind.
I'd like to think I wasn't a jerk off though, I don't believe we've met so I'm not sure how you've formed this opinion.
Best wishes, and have a happy life!
Steve
Hi Jamison,
First of all, asa consumer, you have the biggest control in the world. Jsut switch off and wait for the next show. I'm sorry you didn't appreciate teh interview - but I know others did, and what is a world if not one where we are all unique. Personally I enjoyed the interview (being a TOCA fan helps), and from the comments and emails, so did a lot fo other people.
Your reaction really doesn't help the design houses and studios respect the internet - Steve didn't have to do the interview, and quite frankly the number of copies of TOCA sold compared to teh numberof all homebrew apps in regualr use (as opposed to a single load and oooh that looks nice) I think will show just how strong the UMD Game scene is as well as the unique strengths of the homebrew movement.
Any one of the homebrewe guys is welcome on the show, and I'll arrange an interview if they're suitable. I've made that offer previously (and privately) to a number of the more well known coders and they've either declined or not responded. The offer stands, and you can email me at ewanspence@gmail.com.
One final thought - if all the design houses and coders there were excited about homebrew, THEY are the ones that can exert pressure on Sony to consider a change - do you really thing you calling him a jerkoff is going to make them want to even associate with the homebrews?
