Daedalus PSP - Image 1

What better way to spend Halloween than to catch up on how our lovely "undaed" are doing? Still no word on the "late October" release for the DaedalusX64 N64 emulator just yet, but if you want PSP updates, then PSP updates shall we deliver.

Shinydude100 dropped by the Daedalus forums to give everyone an update on the Daedalus revival project that he and a couple other coders are cooking up.

For now, it seems to be only a matter of compiling Shinydude100's work with that of the others in the team. Once that's done, they'll have DaedalusX64 Alpha (for devs' eyes only, mind you - for further bug testing and streamlining of code).

After DaedalusX64 Alpha, we can probably see a release. So while we're waiting for that to come around, we're also given a peek at what DaedalusX64 Alpha's partial changelog looks like.

1.2.1 Zilmar GFX Plugin now: 1.3.4. GFX Plugin
**Inserted Microcodes necessary to play Diddy Kong racing and other N64 games. (I'm not 100% sure how this will incorporate into the actual emulator if it needs some coding, shouldn't need any if i place it in the right spot for compiling, since this was origionally a port.

As Shinydude100 says, "Only the plugin and other tiny things have been messed with." The above snippet is an example.

So hold tight, fellow trick or treaters. We'll eventually get a release. No sense rushing the devs, yes? Shinydude100 explains that:

I have: Church,School Projects, and LIFE to deal with, hehe.. bear with me, beauty takes its time. (er.. not that i'm the most beautiful thing, ahh you get the point.. -.- )

Well now, no sense in selling yourself short of being the most beautiful, mate! *wink* We're all beautiful here in the PSP scene, aren't we now?

 » Hey Qj Admins

I was banned from Qj for like 3 hours, i was trying to reload the page because nothing was appearing (wireless internet ocassionaly hangs that way) So when i reload it and it finally seems to work fine, i get a message saying that my I.P adress is being watched and that I am banned for 3 hours or so. =(

Also, i said 1.3.4 but I'm not sure about that last ".4" I'll have to looks at the codes again, hehe =D Anyways, the microcodes and plugin are available for the Devs, and they're also doing their part where they can. Kreationz has discussed that he has managed a 3-4 fps speedup due to complilation in r-13 i think... He's good at debugging and fixing errors.

Yeah, its actually 1.3 Zilmar GFX, checked the code just now to make sure, (not that .4 would have done much anyway, LOL)

 » Heyo Shinydude100!

Sorry to hear getting banned. Dunno what that's about though. Our systems don't say anything about you getting banned. Hmm. Strange. Must have been a hiccup in the servers. But it's all good now, I assume?

So I heard you postponed the release for DaedalusX64? And that you got a threat via email? Yeouch. Hope you get things sorted out. Lots of people seem to be looking forward to your team's project. ;-)

I've read the whole thing *thumbs up* great news for all of us.

But... one thing bothers me. Why are the I's lowercase? I see about 2 I's that need to be I instead of i and i'm. Do you feel a little tire today? No offence.

» OK, I am glad to hear about compatibility...

...but what about speed? Will any games be running at full speed or closer to full speed in this release?

   by majorbb100 - 2008-10-29
 » hey all...

i had an idea and someone tell me if its possible and will or will not work. ok well there was a recent qj article about a guy that could play NES games from his psp on his tv in fullscreen without Fusa or anything like that. What he did was compile some NES games into one ISO then he converted the ISO into an Eboot using Popstation GUI. So couldnt we make n64 Rom's into ISO's and then convert them to Eboot's using Popstation GUI and then run them on our psp's just fine? (i bet sony could whip up an n64 emulator that would run perfect just like POPS does)

   Re: DarkXCloud - 2008-10-29
 » ...

I'm not sure if it requires the emulator too!

because I have about 109 NES Roms in an eboot that says something about the emulator it's using :S

Go grab your PSP's for me really quick. Then, when you have them in hand, I want you to find an open spot on a wall. A brick wall would do best, but it doesn't really matter. Now, I want you to grab a garbage can and put it up against the wall, just under that spot you picked out. When you are satisfied with it, I want you to think really hard to yourself, 'I am teh dumb,' and then THROW it as HARD as you can at that spot. You get 10 points for hitting the spot, and another 5 for landing it in the garbage can. Hell, i'll give you 25 'tard points if you miss the wall. Now promise the world you'll never touch a PSP again.

You have been pwned.

Though their theories may be impossible, as the Playstation emulator (the PS1 itself) doesn't have the wiring and necessary power to start up some N64 stuff, at least they thought something up much better than making up a stupid game out breaking a PSP.
Besides, the ratings of your comment seem to speak about the "pwned" part.

You have got to be kidding me. Theories? This isn't like discovering new elements or inventing the time machine. This is a device that was designed to play Playstation Portable games. Yes, it comes with the capabilities to run older Playstation games because the emulator was programmed by Sony. Nintendo isn't going to create an emulator because it's competitive with Sony. We both understand this. I'm sorry, but theories like this are what keep the PSP homebrew scene from going any farther. It's people who don't educate themselves prior to making a statement that clearly makes them look like morons. You agreeing with them only makes you just as ignorant. And as far as comment ratings, it doesn't mean anything to me because I guarantee you that half of the users on here reading the comments don't bother rating anything. Taking this in mind means that less than half of the readers even go in every article, and less than that read every comment. Now take that number and consider those that even take the time to rate. Now you understand?

you are nothing but a negative *****er. ok so maybe i dont know everything about coding, well ***** you. that doesnt mean i cant state an idea if i have one.
