Multiple edits were made to revise Manhunt 2 for its M-rated version. Hackers apparently have altered one of those edits to produce an illegally modified version of the game that can only be played on an unauthorized, modified PlayStation Portable handheld system. All of the game material, and especially these specific edits, was submitted to and reviewed by the ESRB in accordance with requirements regarding disclosure that were enacted two years ago and any contrary suggestion is inaccurate and irresponsible. Take-Two Chairman Strauss Zelnick said, "I stand behind the game and the ESRB ratings process. It is unfortunately the case that no one in the entertainment software industry is immune from hacking. We hope that consumers will not engage in hacking or download illegally modified copies of our games. We encourage them to enjoy our games as they are meant to be played. We would also like to emphasize that Manhunt 2 is intended for an audience aged 17 and above." |

"We hope that consumers will not engage in hacking or download illegally modified copies of our games. We encourage them to enjoy our games as they are meant to be played."
Lol, as they are meant to be played huh? Well it was originally meant to be played WITHOUT censors and editing morons!
Well...yeah! I missed that one, but yeah, that's absolutely right. Good post!
Publicity... I'm sure that rockstar is enjoying all this publicity that this game is receiving. I mean, at this rate, they don't have to spend any money on advertising, since everyone else is doing it for them...
If anything, provided that the government doesn't ban it like the UK did, this game will sell more than it would have if no one had b!tched about it.
Anyhow, it's kinda like Harry Potter: the books weren't good at all, but because everyone talked about it, it sold extremely well. Likewise, (I'm not necessarily saying Manhunt 2 is a bad game; I'm just saying that EVEN IF it was a bad game,) it'll sell like crazy because everyone's talking about it.
i took it like they were congratulating the hacker for "playing their games the way they are meant to be played"
they can't say it out right obviously, but i think they are giving us secret props
I'm over the age of 17, by about 18 years. why would I have to buy an edited version of this game. guess what I didn't. I'm playing one of the rips that mista take two (take two what, i might ask?) hates so much. I wanted to play this game in its original form but would not have been able to without the help of some key hackers in the scene. So I bought it and ripped it and did the replacing all on my own. F**K Y** Jack Thompson and take two F**K Y*Us for you take two. Thompson is a ***** and take two are cry babies.
Take 2 is just trying to cover there ass so ESRB wont breath down their necks about it.
for who want the patch for the untouched iso go on psp hacks and check in comment for the PPF patch work perfectly when u do an execcution u dont see all in white red black u really see the execution hehe i like it
no resident evil or silent hill yet, so rockstar beat them to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
all around halloween, its adults only so calm down, the nanny state wants you to stop smoking, drinking, eating bad food, stop playing video games, take exercise, aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhh.........why dont we all just die now.
they shout louder but I cant hear you, the louder they shout the deafer I become!
They are covering themselfs so they don't get blamed and sued again, this is exactly the same as Hot Coffe, just a short mod to a file and it's unlocked. They won't make the same mistake twice, they got blamed for Hot Coffee even though it isn't playable unless you mod the game.
Do you guys really think that Take 2 didn't know that the game would be hacked faster than a wildfire spreading through a jungle? They freaking knew. If hackers can hack the game in under 24 hours of it's release then you better believe the professional programmers working for Take 2 knew the extent at which the game would be hacked. If they really wanted to prevent the game from being hacked they'd make it more difficult. Which they didn't, because they wanted it to be hacked. Take 2 is basically saying EFF YOU to Jack Thompson by showing him that even though they were forced to censor their brilliant game it took less than 24 hours for the uncut version to be leaked on teh internets.
Illegal downloads aside, this is exactly what Take Two bet on would happen, and it did. The above statement is just a way to cover their asses legally because it's happened to them before and they know what kind of a retard Jack Thompson is. Show the dog a bone and it'll bite.
The way it was meant to be played? LOL! It's funny Take-Two is trying to act like angels lol. The only way it was meant to be played was without censorship. Thanks to the hack I can enjoy this game a lot more.
"I want to make clear that, according to Take Two, the hack does not reveal the entire AO-rated version of the game, only a portion thereof. "
Makes it sound like all of the AO material is on the disc. They might have been using it as dummy material to fill the disc like the Hot Coffe mod. Let's just hope that we can go through most or even all of the code and find some more interesting stuff just waiting to be unlocked.
Cheers for Take Two and Rockstar for giving us the uncut version of the game, right under the ESRB's noses.
search GLVLSET.INI and LVLSETUP.INI to find out more...
is naiiice. sienk ye!
I think if I used eboot unpacker, that might do the trick. But the question is... how will I re-eboot it?
Its so obvious that they intentionally put the Censor filters in a PLAINTEXT file so that gamers could buy the game, dump the disc, and modify it so that they could play it uncensored.
They'd rather have the whole unedited thing commercially, but having a controversial M-rated game with a controversial hack is 2nd place for generating hype ;)
hahah ur so right. i noticed that too when they gave a tutorial on hacking the game im like...r u *****ing serious? is it really this easy? and see..rockstar didn't get any ***** against them like GTA san andreas did with the sex scene cheats cuz this censor removal is considering hacking.
