PS2-92102502Tokes has emailed us his PS2 Remote for PSP. PS2 Remote for PSP is a remote controller program to control your PS2 with your PSP. Here is the message from Tokes:

Tokes PS2 Remote

This program was made for the use with the PlayStation Portable system.
It is a IR signal device, used to manipulate the PlayStation 2 gaming system.
This Homebrew Application only operates the "New", or "Slim" PlayStation 2 gaming system.

To Instal place the 2 folders into your PSP game folder.

This program was created by Tokes,
And I am in no way responsible for any damage this may cause to your system if used inapropriatly.

Special Thanks goes to:

Bomb: The author of the "Mitsubishi Remote".
Melman: The author of  the original remote for the PS2.
I would also like to thank Fangita for helpiing me with this program and Rutger from the pspupdates forum, He was my Beta tester.

Controls:

In the main screen pressing :

Triangle, Circle, Cross, or Square will send those signals to your PlayStation 2
Up, Down, Left, or Right will send those signals to your PlayStation 2
The L button or the R button will send those signals to your PlayStation 2
Start or Select will send those signals to your PlayStation 2

*If you Switch on the HOLD button, The button configuration will appear (just incase you forget ;) ) Then turn the HOLD button OFF and ON again to return to the main screen. (Then turn Hold off if you want to pree anything, I know that thats annoying, but its just to see the button Config.)

*If you Double click the HOME button you will change to the Extra Buttons menu. (press twice, after the first time the exit screen comes up, just press HOME again)

Controls In the Extra Buttons Menu:

The L button will send the L2 signal to your PlayStation 2
The R button will send the R2 signal to your PlayStation 2
Up on the D-pad will send the L3 Signal to your PlayStation 2
Triangle will send the R3 Signal to your PlayStation 2
Start button will turn your PlayStation 2 ON
Select button will turn your PlayStation 2 OFF

Nice little app, and it works fine on my fat ps2. I hope you get it working so it puts out a continious single when you keep the button pressed down (like you mentioned above). Would work great for a lot of games like gran turismo. :) Anyways, keep up the great work, looking foward to any updates.

cool, will give it a try.

i tested that thing but I dont like it because on a game such as GTA : SA, the Analog is not a part of Ir control so you can't move on the game, the only thing you can do is to accell, jump ... but this is only on games like GTA who needs the analog control ...

Does it work on Version 2.00 ??? I dont have a PS2 Slim so cant test... Just want to know as if it does, this means we could have a Multi Remote Control for V2.00 maybe :) :D

a couple of things. it's not actually supposed to be used in place of the ps2 controller for games, as there are too many missing features, ie extra shoulder buttons, extra analog stick, as well as both analog sticks being pushable.

also, it's not exclusive to the slim ps2. I have the older, fat ps2, but I have the ir reciever for the remote control that came out. it works beautifully.

Great program , i gota say i think this is my fav now :D..

as i use my Ps2 slim all the time for DvD's downstairs .

One question though,, Is it gona ever be possible to convert the psp as a controller for the PC , as a remote ?

again Thumbs up luv it

Awesome app. It caught me at "PSP PS2 Remote". Analog control missing is a con, but the official PS2 Sony Remote has no analog support, so you can't complain. Great program, I'll sure be using it for movies and co-op where player 2 gets to press buttons on PSP. :P

As Flip said, not only the Slims have iR built-in. I have the Network edition PS2 that came with the Network Adaptor. There's at least 2 other modelss I believe that have it also. Just look at the space between the power and eject button. Look for the iR logo/a slight difference in colour/translucency.

Works for me!

Thanks Tokes. Thanks PSPU.

Hey Guys, Im glad you like it,
It will work with the older ps2 if you have the wirless remote attachement htat plugs into the ps2. Otherwise ^^ as Drnicket said

Dude it does have the shoulder buttons (L2, and R2) and it does have the analog push in( there called L3 and R3) chack out the Extra buttons menu, (press Home) ;)

Ill release another version soon, that has the repeat function, So in a racing gae when you push ie : R1 to accelrateit wont just stop and go, the psp will keep sending the R1 signal aslong as you hold it down...
Thx

but realistically, it doesn't even come close to the usability of the actual ps2 controller. as a remote, this is a great program, i spent an entire movie just messing around with the psp, making it control the movie.

but sadly, because sony chose to not include another analog nub, or additional shoulder buttons, it just makes the psp a little cumbersome to use as a ps2 controller.

still, the program is extremely handy as is.

I agree.

the PSP is like 4 buttons and an analog contorller short of being a PS2 controller? as similar as it looks its just not the same

still an AWESOME app tho

Well that's a good technique too. PS2 Remote offical remote does not have on/off button, I'd buy it if it did. Still great work looking forward to next updates. And lol 30 feet? :P

Everyone, it's emulating the PS2 OFFICIAL REMOTE NOT the PS2 CONTROLLER contrary to popular belief. The PS2 Remote has the PS2 controller buttons and exclusive DVD playback buttons, and this is what the program is doing except it's limited to the PSP's buttons.

im in friggin love with this program. i plan on using it for watching dvds and whatnot. and whenever a single player game calls for extra hands. have you tried the range you get with this thing? i swear to got it works perfectly from more than 30 feet away. i couldnt even get more than 7 feet with the universal remote program. i am in love with this. the next step is integrating the IR remote programs into PSIX!!! PSIX FOR LIFE!! its sooo sexy!!

Mo hat its really not, It not emulating naything. I used an IR reciever and a wireless remote for the ps2 to capture thecode on the computer and then I coneverted it to hex. 1st of All I dont htink the Ps2 remote can turn on and off the ps2, aswell as R3 and L3 and the other ones.

Wow holy **** 30 ft?
