Toshiba's new SDHC cards - Image 1If you're looking for a way to carry large amounts of data around, check out the new memory cards recently announced by Toshiba.

The company's lineup of SDHC cards has been reinforced with three new cards including the world's first 32GB SDHC card. Toshiba has also rolled out a new 16GB SDHC card as well as an 8GB microSDHC card.

These new products would work well with advanced mobile phones and other digital consumer products. PlayStation Portable owners can also use these cards with their PSPs through the use of a third-party SD adapter.

All three cards meet Class 4 specs in the SD Speed Class. The 16GB model will be the first to be released worldwide in October. Mass production of the 32GB and 8GB models will commence in January next year.

Thanks to Pramod for the tip!

Sweet, but why is this posted in the PSP section?

There is a storage limit on the PSP or will SONY
lift it once the Slim is released and set it to something else to accommodate the new storage products?

No they cant! You cant use a ms for psp which has more then 10GB

I think you meant 8 Gigs. A firmware update would be needed to fully use the card's capacity.

yea, its 8 gb except unless u have custom firmware, DAX patched it so up to 32 GB memory stick pro duo can be used, however some 3rd party adapter limit u to 8GB also, but some have a mod for them to unlock them...

I hope they stop getting smaller. The duo's out right now are a good size for a memory card, i hope they focus now on improving the storage capacity and not reducing the card size.

Please read this, you will be excited. When you click this link, http://www.*****.com/280538 you will go to a website that pays you 2 - 45$ (PER) to do surveys, sign up for trial offers, and test products.
Companies such as ebay pay CC to have people try their offers, and when you complete an offer, CC simply passes the money onto you. By spending an average of 3-4 hours a week on *****,
I have made 472$ in May, 412$ in June, and 271$ (SO FAR) in July. You get paid in real checks from "KNGSIDE MEDIA" every month that you earn 10 dollars or more. It may seem too good to be true,
but I assure you it IS true. Also, with their referral program, you can refer people by sending them your link (you get when you sign up) and for every buck they earn, you get 20 cents also! (Think how much money you can make if you have 100 people making five bucks a day)
You do not have to enter your credit card or social security number. Nothing Harmful can come from CC. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE 18 OR OLDER, I AM 15 YEARS OLD AND REFERRING PEOPLE, AND I MAKE THIS MUCH MONEY A MONTH

Think it's a scam? Read this(from the website) "We assure you that this is not a scam! Companies need consumers to try and review products, services, and websites and are willing to pay money to have them do so.

8GB limit? It used to be 4GB, then Sony removed that limit. I don't think any limit exists now. The one 9-in-1 adaptor allows up to 32GB MMC cards after removing a resistor. But that's all I know about it.

» I can think of something else I can use it for

My PS3. this is perfect because my laptop takes SD cards and now I can transfer massive amounts of data be it videos, music, photos or a combination there of to my PS3 with out having to use an external hardrive which is slower and not as portable as an SD card. I'm thinking Sony got caught with their pants down on this one, I mean the most a memory stick can hold is 8GB and here come Toshiba and announces an SD card that can hold up to 32GB. Come on Sony get your sh1t together. We want a better memory stick and we want it now. It's great that the PS3 takes all kind of flash memory cards.

   Re: Chaos (Unregistered) - 2007-08-24
 » Uhh no

the ps3 also has a memory card limit on it because they dont want you to be able to run any blu-ray backups off of the memory cards. i believe the ps3 limit is 4 GB (because all blu-ray is bigger than 4 GB)

Re: Jesus Man (Unregistered) - 2007-08-24
 » Yo! Manny151

Your wrong!

SONY sells their products to third parties which rebrand and resell the same product.

SONY did indeed come up with the 32GB stick first.

umm first off more room for music, pics, homebrew, and vids not isos.. you know were not all pirates jack _ss!
second off being as there is a competition now to make small storage devices, i.e: memory sticks, to hold more memory. They rose the bar to 32gb and other companies such as sony and sandisk will try to follow suit. Because they dont want to be left in the dust, give it some time and with the new advance and we will have 32gb mem stick pro-duo some day. Even if anyone dose not want that much memory, it would still make the other lower storage memory sticks drop in price. nice tip QJ.

All of us who want bigger memory sticks are pirates ;) no need lame reasons like this "more room for music, pics, homebrew, and vids not isos.." lol

 » Captain Pirate

and it's because of people like you that steal games that also cheat online and makes all other players have less fun when playing. Further more, it's another reason why games get their online support dropped out from under the gamers feet. People like you that think it's ok to steal mess everything up. Grow a set of balls and a few pubic hairs, make sure you wipe your ass right and wash behind your ears, then try to post something more intelligent next time.

My 4GB MemoryStick is enough for my PSP but a having someone develop a 32GB SD card is going to bring down the prices of smaller capacity SD cards for use in my digicams.

Sigh... if only $ony wasn't so up themselves carrying on MemoryStick (Pro, Pro Duo, M2), I mean SD cards easily offer way better bang-for-buck and is more compatible with more products.
I'd loved if the PSP before it was ever released, have been developed for use with SD cards.

» no one speaks for everyone

Tobyo1, speak for yourself. How can you say that 1gb is fine? 1 gb is barely a few cds and a movie. I play iso's of games I own because the battery life is exponentially better, as well as the load times. I also watch a lot of anime, so with a huge series, the more space I have, the better.

So if you're fine with 1 gb, then ok, but don't dump on everybody else who wants more from their system.
