Sony PlayStation Portable - Image 1Sony PlayStation Portable homebrew developer Illegal Machine has recently released the PC Engine emulator for the Sony PSP. It's called Turbo Grafix 16 and it does more than just emulate the older game system.

For one, Illegal Machine says that "this (emulator) has the icon.pmf that shows the original Turbo-grafix TV commercial, among other things." It's compatible with the Sony PlayStation Portable Slim & Lite and firmware 1.50.

Running games on it is fairly easy. Illegal Machine tells us to "just place the extracted folder into the GAME folder and place the ROMs in the Turbo Grafx-16 folder not a folder named ROMs." Pop all of these into the same folder as EBOOT and you're good to go. Enjoy!

» There was already a good TG16/PCE emulator out long ago..

Why does QJ not acknowledge the previous releases? They either don't know about them or they want people to think it's something ground breaking is my guess....

The "this (emulator)" link in the description links to e[mulator] v0.82e, which has terrific TG-16 emulation and also NES. WSC, etc built-in.

of good games for the tg16? I bought them all when I was a kid, but I don't remember the best ones I would want to play now. Any suggestions?

The flagship game for the TG16 when it was released was "The Adventures of Bonk." It was about a caveman kid who uses his head as a weapon.

 » good little effort

never heard of this console, so i decided to do a little hunt! just tried bomberman and 1941 1943 and it plays the roms really nice, excellent sound output unlike some emulators, nice fullscreen support, full speed.

I'm going to grab a few more roms to see if they are as good. although the games available to this console are largely unknown to me.

thanx for this emulator, it's a nice effort.
recommended.

I'm pretty sure the in-game menu combo is select + LT + RT or just select + LT

Wasn't it Boink. I can't recall. But Bonk or Boink was the game that came before Joe & Mac for the SNES. So any Joe & Mac fans should check it out. I personally haven't played it myself but I loved the first Joe & Mac for the SNES.
