UK newspaper offers cash for anti-games story - Image 1It seems that people in UK have a big thing for violent video games, from laws to studies and now to contests. That's right kiddies, an event has been posted by a UK newspaper offering money for stories on violent games.

Boys and girls, it's definitely time to put your thinking caps on. StarNow has just announced that they are looking for stories and will be paying in cold hard cash... well, in pounds at least.

On their website, they posted: "Write a few lines about how computer games turned you to crime and if it's something we like, we'll call you straight back." Read that line carefully. Computer games. crime. It's a little peculiar but we're sure, it caught the attention of some of you. Hey, all you have to do is write (and write good) and you'll be rewarded aptly.

As for the participant, you just have to make sure you're not over 60 years old. Other than that, you're eligible to participate in it. Now, if you're determined to partake in it, feel free to visit the link below. We'll keep you guys posted for more updates.

...of the trash journalism in this country. It's hard to know what to believe these days, but if they're creating news rather than reporting on it, that discredits the rag behind this farce from the get go.

 » Exactly

This rag is pretty much saying it will print any story it likes, even if it's a complete fabrication. I can see no way they could verify the story is true, and it wouldn't be very hard for a decent writer to come up with one.

This should be illegal

I'm under 60 years old, and I've seen horribly bad games on shelves for $50 and $60. This is obviously a hideous crime, with far-reaching ramifications. Where is my bag of British Pounds??

Ok so bad games in U.S., Canada or other (I dunno which $ you refer too, I assume U.S.) $50-60 for game, I can almost guarantee those same games priced in our stores for $+£+ more I've seen new games go for £50-75 recently and sickeningly 'older games' like Half Life 2 original single game edition (no bundled extras eg holiday pack or orange box) go for £35 still today in nationwide video game retail stores, now apply the true conversion rate (or easy rough guide at £+$x2) and you will soon realise how ripped off we are currently with taxes and prices of goods, and what not. This doesn't just apply to games I'm sure you'll realise, in fact the cost of our medicines prescriptions will rise $1 in 40 minutes time, alcohol and cigarette prices have risen at the beginning of the month, we may soon have yet another tax applied to owning a car where we have to pay per mile of use, some towns have 'adjusted' their parking permit fees depending on which sized car you have some doubling the cost of a permit to park your car outside your house, we have a tax on your families when you die. As far this sad news story, I agree I've had more range of fun with games than i could have ever had in real life. I would say they've actually kept me off the streets and going crazy and committing crimes, and kept my mind and fingers active.

Here's to gaming for years to come

why does the equals sign turn into a plus/addition sign and why does an apostrophe turn into a slash and an apostrophe?

this should be an equals +
