Altair's PSP incarnation is shaping up to be one of the must have titles this holiday. In Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, Ubisoft and Griptonite Games have teamed up to bring the action-adventure video game back to its original open world gameplay and into our handhelds. Well this we haven't heard of in quite a while. A new UMD movie is out and about on sale at Amazon, and Warner Bros. is apparently hoping some of the magic will spill over to the dying format. In celebration of the release of the Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince movie, they are releasing a UMD box set containing the first five iterations of the wizarding franchise.

If you weren't able to catch Resident Evil: Degeneration when it was shown in theaters, there's about half a million copies floating around - and yes, that's worldwide. Via press release, Capcom has announced that they've shipped over 1.5 million copies of the full-length CG-animated movie across the globe. Though they didn't give the breakdown, this total figure combines the release of the Blu-ray, DVD, and UMD versions of the movie.

Resident Evil Degeneration is out to invade your home entertainment systems this holiday. Sony Pictures has announced that they will be releasing the blockbuster hit on UMD, DVD and Blu-ray formats.

With the launch of the PlayStation Store on the PSP, Sony's established a milestone in their ongoing journey through the realm of content downloading from the PS3 Store to the PC Store and now, the PSP Store. Will the previous rumor of seeing all PSP games in 2009 as downloads eventually prove true? If that were the case, then some of you might be worried (for the nth time now) about the UMD format's future. A Sony executive responded to this concern, keeping optimism for the UMD alive.
