UMEMD accessory for PSP introduced - Image 1UMEMD (pronounced "you-mem-dee") is Team Xecuter's modded solution for storing Sony PSP memory sticks. And an appropriate name it is, for UMEMD takes the form of a typical UMD disc (with casing and all) in a double level enclosure designed to accommodate four memory sticks of your choice.

And though the name and item description may propel you to think that it could make all those memsticks readable via the Universal Media Disc format, the hacking-modding team hasn't actually come round to making UMEMD accomplish that.

So in essence, UMEMD is simply a storage device for memsticks and nothing more. It carries four memory sticks by loading two sticks within storage bays inside the UMEMD enclosure. Once those two are occupied, the outer shell exhibits a few more locations where two more sticks may be stored. And if you're not keen on carrying all your memory sticks in your pocket or carry case, the UMEMD offers another possible solution to those memstick swappers.

Team Xecuter says that the UMEMD will be available for shipping in two weeks time, but pricing and stocklists have yet to follow.

 » UNBELIEVABLE.

This is EXACTLY what I need. I have 3 memory sticks and no place to really store them when im on the go. I have been sticking them in my wallet.(ugh) So, this is perfect. I never even use the drive in lieu of homebrew. Ok, so where can i get one?

yeah me too, I have about 13 gigs worth of multi gig sticks. I wonder if you can get em in clear with leds flashing? This is definitely looking like a purchase for me.

 » Lol

Omg this is the best!!!

But can I still run homebrew and stuff off of my memstick?

I take that as a yes!!!

Omg i need that soooooo bad I would pay at least 20 bucks for that!!!

   Re: SpaceCow4 - 2008-03-27
 » No...

It doesn't run the MemorySticks through the UMD drive, it only HOLDS them. It's for those who might want to take multiple MemorySticks with them on the go.

Because I've already made one. I threw out the demo disc inside and put sponge cutouts in the umd case with slots for 3 memory sticks.

THIS ON FITS 4!
   by FreePlay - 2008-03-28
 » Stupid.

Seriously, is it so hard to put them in your pocket?

   Re: Addy771 - 2008-03-28
 » Yes

Memory sticks are very small, and also very valuable. I hate putting them in my pockets, because I'm worried I'll drop them and lose them. This thing is perfect for me, I'm going to buy one as soon as I can.

   Re: FreePlay - 2008-03-28
 » So...

You'd prefer to have all of them in one place, so that you only have to lose the UMEMD to lose all of them?

Okay...

   Re: Addy771 - 2008-03-28
 » .

I wouldn't carry it in my pocket, dumb*****. It would be inside my PSP, which I'm very careful about not losing.

 » meh

I got all excited thinking I could somehow have 4 sticks loaded at once accessible through drives ms0-ms3 all at once.

Yo.... why did u damage ur star wars disk with peanut butter?

doesn't make sense to me
   by spylogo - 2008-03-28
 » Okay....

now there are a few things wrong with this. First being that shoving something where it shouldn't could cause some problems..... the psp would probably keep trying to read the disk and keep spinning or something could get jammed. People with iso's can't run games which require a umd in the slot. Heat problems maybe? anyways...... I already tried this by taking a umd apart and stickiing my mem cards in and it had some problems..... I quickly abandoned the idea and am suprised to see it on here.
