Ubisoft logo - Image 1As you guys know, Ubisoft was able to acquire the franchising license for the formerly Atari-owned Driver series last year. And now, Ubisoft has just announced that their first title off the franchise, Driver 76, will be heading to PSPs this March.

Currently being developed by Sumo Digital Ltd. and Ubisoft's Reflections Studio, Driver 76 will also be the first title from the series to appear on the PSP. And to go out with a bang, Ubisoft is making sure that the game will be one of the best racing ones yet to come out for the handheld.

Driver 76 will take handheld gamers back to the 70's with Hollywood-style car chases through 27 missions divided into six main plots. Players can take side jobs and earn cash that can be used to customize their rides.

Here are some of the game features:

  • all-new 27 missions created exclusively for the PSP
  • Prequel Storyline – the game is set in 1976, two years before Driver Parallel Lines.
  • Multiplayer Games and Downloadable Content – games include Street Racing, Destruction Derby, Pink Slip Racing and Swap Meet. Also download new paintjobs to use on your collected vehicles in the garage.
  • Open Environments in Authentic 1970’s New York – All the architecture, music, cars and clothes of the ’70s. Spans New York from Jersey to Coney Island.
  • Vehicle Modification System – Collect your favorite vehicles and complete side job missions to get the cash to modify your ride.
  • High-Speed Hollywood Racing Action – High-speed car races and crashes. Go even faster by customizing your car with special parts.
  • Authentic ’70s Soundtrack – Immerse yourself in the ’70s with classic songs from the decadewait
We'll keep you updated once more details and screens about this upcoming PSP racer surface, but in the meantime, check out this first batch of screens we have, why don'tcha?

Driver was for PS1 before GTA.

» Driver 1 and the rest

Okay ive got mixed feelings. For one the original Driver was before GTA3, one of the first if not first to introduce 3d driving in an open city on sucha scale and complexity. 2 all the other Driver games were made by another developer and lost all the beauty, style, realism and simplicity of Driver 1. So you shouldnt worry bout it being a VCS clone, you should wory tho about its quality. Anyways driver 1 still remains my best driving game, with the greatest feeling (really working to not be spotted by cops and ahh the director mode) so i am hoping deep inside for a great comeback
peace

With so little games coming to psp i dont see your point! and if they live up to driver 1 then it will be marvelous....just they should go the simple way, and dont try to imitate gta cuz driver wasnt a bit like gta! And plz dont call it a clone anyone....i played all gtas from 1, london, 2 to all the new ones including the psp ones and the original DRIVER was a compleatly different type of game focused solely on good realistic driving and evading cops

Peace

» wtf how is this a vcs clone?

hows this a vcs clone? any game where you can get out of your car nowadays is automatically a GTA clone get a f*king life and look at facts. Drievr 2 1st 3d game allowing free roam and ability to get out of your car. It was suppose to include shooting missions to but they took them out for some reason. GTA got its 3d inspiration from Driver so how the f*ck is this a GTA clone? btw i have this for my ps2 its the same thing as parallel lines i bet and its a pretty good game not as good as GTA but probably second on the list of free roam games
